Once again a blood curdling reminder in Hawaii

02-02-2004, 12:52 PM

About every two weeks or so a loud alarm goes off for about 10 seconds all over the Island of Oahu. It's the testing of the invasion/bombing alert system.

I puff my cig just a little harder when the test goes beyond 10 seconds.

My friend thinks it's not a test. He thinks it's an alert that one too many White people just got off the plane.

we had it over here too... same time. Was about a 45 second blast, but it was also on the radio, explaining it was the monthly test.

Wow, I've lived here for 4 years and have never heard that. What island are you on and what time does it go off? I've seen the sirens on the Windward side of the island, but have never heard them go off. Interesting.
