The thing i found inappropriate, considering the audience, was the fact that the piece of clothing was ripped off, seemingly "against" janet's will.

I wonder if people would be saying it's "Just a boob" if their daughter had her top ripped off by some kid 'cause he thought it was funny, or if their son had done something like this to a young girl.

Sometime, somewhere there will be some Jr high dance with 12-13 year olds , where the song "rock your body" gets played. Some kid will rip the top off some girl at the end of the song, and the media will run wild with it.

That is the EXACT mentality I was raised in. Big deal that a tit was shown.

To this day I remember my first summer in Italy when I was 6 years old (cause it was soo fun). I remember seeing a TV commercial for sun tan lotion and the girl was topless. I looked over at my mom and said "hey look mommy it's boobies on TV". She completely came off like it was no big deal. Guess what...that made me realize it WAS no big deal. Tits are shown on TV all the time in Europe and no one trips off it. Kids don't grow up any more perverted over there than here cause of it.

I think alcohol should be the same way. I grew up always being allowed to "sip" or "taste" wine during dinner. I was never told NO you're to young. Well guess what, I realized alcohol was no big deal. In High School while all my friends like to get drunk and drive I was the smart one cause I didn't think alcohol was a big deal. I still partied just like everyone else, I just was far more responsible about it...cause after all, I could have a drink ANYTIME I wanted so getting wasted wasn't a big priority like it was for everyone else.

A roughly similar incident happened on the BBC where a dancer was wearing a strapless dress and her tits kept popping. That girl kept on like a trooper and kept the routine going and she was applauded for being "concientious". There was no complaints (tits were OK! *g*) and the government had better things to do than launch inquiries into tits and broadcasting.

O'h. my mom used to make me cover my eyes too!! I thought I was the only one!!!! Nice to know I'm not alone. Weird thing is she still made me cover my eyes when I was like 16, 17 and this was not cable movies where they actually show the boobs, just love scenes on regular tv! Well, this made me a bit disfunctional because even today at almost 25 I cannot watch a movie with love scenes around my mom, makes me feel uncomfortable as well, not love scenes but even when they are just kissing I get squirmish. It's because I'm not comfortable at ALL talking to her about most things , and we never talked about sex or anything like that even when I was a teenager or even today. She is one of those repressed people who thinks sex is "bad". She still doesn't want me to have a boyfriend even though I'm 24! I am not joking, she is always obsessed and asking people if I have one, and she has a feeling that I have one, and who he is. There's people younger than me that are married and have babies!!!! I don't think she wants me to have sex or something. Well, umm I'm old enough to do whatever I want, I'm almost 6 years over the legal age. She is a bit weird, it's stuff like this that makes us not close, so I don't see her very often.
I think she wants me to end up like her, at 50 with no man all by herself.
