Apx 1/3 of pilgrims that visit Mecca during this holy pilgrimage are non arab muslims..

Muslims from all over the world go to Mecca. The 'Haj' right now is one of the 5 pillars of Islam. Every muslim, regardless of nationality, has a duty to perform this 'Haj'. Many American muslims go to Mecca..maybe not as much after 9/11 but still quite a few. It's not an 'arab' thing..it's a 'muslim' tradition..

It doesnt really matter the race.. So i wouldnt call it racist, people would say the same thing if 244 people were killed in the LONDON SUBWAY...

I dont think anyone wanted them to die or believes they deserve to die. Its just shocking..

They have this tradition in the university of texas where they stack up a big pile of logs every year and burn them, well a few years ago they built the logs stack wrong and it crushed like 10 people to death.. Same sort of thing.. People called the kids stupid for stacking logs, for no purpose other than to burn them. But to the kids it was a tradition to have a bonfire every year. Afterwards it looks like idiots , at the time it seems fine.

Ironically this was started by porn. The Hajj ( pilgrimage to Mecca ) predates Islam and used to be full with orgies before Mohammed was possibly offended by this growing up and put an end to it, the rest is history

Well, actually this too, like Fletch says, has been going on for thousands of years. The term 'assassin' comes from the Hashishin, religious zealots sent on one way missions to eliminate political rivals. These guys date from around 7AD, strangely close to the time of Mohammed.

However once you realize that the whole region had been kept in check and virtual slavery by the Romans and the Byzantinnes for 1000 years prior to this, it's easier to understand how the people become easily influenced by this new 'savior'

Back then there was no real separation of church and state, as still seems to be the preference in the entire region today.
