I think it depends on your market. If you are doing a thumb preview TGP, then ya, your design matters. But, equally so, do your features, % to trades, etc. And, one thing almost always forgotten when someone designs a site, how fast the site loads.
So, I guess it really depends on your definition of a "good design". A good design to me is one that doesn't hurt your eyes and loads quickly. If you are doing a plain old tgp w/out previews, go simple as hell. Just make it load fast. Worry more about your traffic than anything else, or more so how you are going to get it.Comment

The next redesign of pussyluvers.com will prolly be more cause I'll want some freehand type graphics.
To be fair, there are some new sites with just plain text that have good traffic, but think that's an exception. My traffic expiered with the last google dance. I was just counting on those keyword placements to make things happen. Now I have some work to do.
To answer your Q, you can get a resonable design for $150 - $200
There have been some offers in the thread.
You might lookup http://graphicsbytia.com - I'd ask about pricing rather than just going by their price list. I think price is affected by what you need. Tia will work with you I think.Comment
