I think we need to get back to this strategy. Too many overseas companies taking work from the US.

The quality is not the issue, it's these overseas developers who charge rediculously low prices and devalue the entire marketplace. Just like if someone buys a plot of land on your upperscale block and decides to put in a nice trailer to live in.

                        Nice choice. I have one.

As far as buying american I try my best to but if the quality and price of an american product is not up to par I will buy what is best for me.

Sad thing is most "made in america" products have a large portion made overseas anyway.

you are buying from an international corpration who doesn't care where the parts come from as long as they work and the price is right.

Hm... you know, I think that aside from my office chair (which is, admittedly, a very nice leather and chrome affair that makes sweet, sweet love to my asscheeks whenever I sit on it) I don't have any US products here... or at least, none that I can easily identify.

My laptop is a toshiba, my cel phone is a samsung, my landline phone system is northern telecom, my Sony TV and I drive a Toyota.

Oh! I have an Xbox! That, at least, was ASSEMBLED in north america... I think...

Can you even buy American-made products at Wal-Mart?

What will the people do in those small 'all-american' towns that John Cougar Mellencamp sings about? ... where Wal-Mart has destroyed all the competition and is now the only place left to shop?

People charge for the results that they expext to have delivered. People pay for the results that they expect. Anyone offering premium delivery/product/support at an el-cheapo price is lying to you. Find someone you believe you can trust, set a price point, and expect delivery of the product according to that price point. You pay cheap, you better expect to get cheap results. You pay premium, you better expect to get premium results.

Does your Toshiba have an Intel processor in it? Those are American, made in America.

Your Toyota may not be an American brand, but it was most likely assembeled in America.

The processor is indeed Intel, but intel has fabrication and assembly plants the world over, including denmark, costa rica, china, the phillipines, malaysia, ireland, israel... It may not necessarily have happened in the US. I'm not about to pull apart my lappy to check the manufacture code on it to confirm that, however.

And my Toyota was assembled in Canada. I know, I visited the plant where it was made (it's in Cambridge, Ontario FYI). I was fully aware of its point of origin. Many of the parts that go in there are forged in the US, many of them using canadian steel. They also assemble Lexus at that particular plant. Hm... what's the plural of 'lexus'? Lexuses? Lexae? Lexii? Meh.

I did find something that was a little more obviously US in manufacture origin... my HP laserjet!

adult or corporate business, no one is stopping US companies in getting into cheap labor. other countries are getting equal competition that the US has to offer on a much lowered manpower expenses.
