I run a pretty large affiliate program. Why would you use a billing system? Just get a merchant account and develop a shopping cart/checkout area.

Fees are crazy low right now. As far as incentives, money is the best incentive.

I dont' want the headache of customer service first.

I'm getting the commerce system done first, work a few months then get my own merchant account.

Paysystems rates are pretty decent for now.

Money is a great incentive...but webmasters are irrational...look at adult ppl love Cars, Trips, Laptops etc...

works well but nothing like the affiliate game in the adult industry.

Mainstream affiliate marketing has little in common with adult affiliate marketing.

In adult and mainstream, money is the best incentive, but there's fewer upsell opportunities in the mainstream, and your visitor's value is determined by actually buying the site's main product in true pay for performance style... In adult, your visitor may have more value because even if he doesn't buy the site's main product (membership), he'll potentially buy any of about 10 upsell items.

The most common marketing tools for affiliates in the mainstream are text and graphic ads that are developed by the affiliate program owner to help affiliates pre-sell, not direct sale, their products...
