Just bought a 8x dvd burner...

    I bought a BTC DVDRW IDE1008 8x dvd +/- RW today,
and i'm wondering what brand dvd -r i can use with this dvd burner.
Because i've got a nashua dvd -r from a friend to try on my new burner, but it doesn't work.....

What brand dvd -r does work on this burner?

Why not go to the company that made its website?

I got one the other day as well... the NEC

The problem is it wont record at 8x on non-8x media.

They must encode something on the hub or something to keep you from being able to use 4x media @ 8x

I've tested a dvd +r 2x from Traxdata and that dvd is working perfectly.... well at least for data.. i don't know if it works for video 2...
It took about 27 minutes to burn 4,2 GB of data.

I hope someone has some experience with this dvd burner who can tell me what dvd -r works perfectly..

I found some information about that the Nashua dvd -r aren't compatible with the btc burner i have..

Is it a problem of Nashua that it doens't work or is it the problem of BTC that it doesn't support the Nashua's dvd -r yet?

Nashua is a well known company and i think they make quality products...
But after this experience i have some doubts about the dvd -r from Nashua...

How expensive are the 8x blanks?

I just got a Plextor 8x DVD myself. The reason why I chose it is because it's certified to burn 8x on 4x media and I've tried it and works great. It takes about 8 minutes to burn 4.2GB of data. According to sites like DVD-R Help you should try to get the namebrand discs because those tend to work more in DVD players then the no-name brands. I get my 4x DVD blanks from CompUSA. I get a 25 pack for $49.99. My buddy came over last night and we tried using one of his no-name brand discs in my burner and this no-name brand could only be burnt at 1x speed. Hope this helps...
