I had to go to a webpage for work to check something out for a customer and I got caught in the popup hell from hell that some other company had...wish I could remember who it was. It took me forever to get out of it and I was just about to reboot when the end came. Popups, personally I don't like them I use the google tool bar but a couple here and there I honestly don't mind. It is when it goes overboard that I think it does more harm than good.

I guess the idea behind it is to get them to join but for new surfers it can scare them, they think thier computer has been taken over or that they have some sort of a virus.

I even had a customer call one day to ask me how to close a window, he wasn't angry he just didn't know what else to do and was afraid to turn off his computer without doing it the proper way. I told him to just hit Control W and I tell ya, it made the guys day, he thought it was the most amazing thing...he once again felt in control.

Of course, I could have told him about the google tool bar.....I'm nice...but not that nice

They wiped out and redirected every account on their WWW24 server (and a few other WWW servers) without warning or notice. I emailed their admin and support about the situation and never got any reply. Keep Smutserver on your blacklist, they've fucked over a lot of webmasters.

I used to use smutserver when we were first getting off the ground. We were being conservative as we learned the best way to spend our money. We got burned a few times (e.g. bought worthless scripts). Today we're big enough to have our own servers. I appreciated the traffic then and now.

Good, now if you and every other tgp would ban all free hosts that would be great.
