We spy on everyone and everybody. Canada is our neighbor but we're still actively spying on them, same goes for the Canadians, they keep tabs on us. The South Africans spy on the Canadians for fishing in South African waters. The British spy on New Zealand because of their anti-nuclear activities, I could go on for hours on who spys on who.

Why else you do need intelligence and COUNTER-intelligence professionals?

With the accuracy of US spying I would be more worried about them than others.

Problem with the "Intelligence Communities" is they are now vast money machines who need to scare the leaders to justify their own existance.

They told Bush Saddam had WMDs, the fact that they could not come up with one piece of evidence to back it up was irrelevent, their opinions and conjecture was enough. Even though what little they did come up with was wrong, they were still listened to.

Now look at the failures to prevent 9/11. Information was there to predict something was going to happen. Yet the agencies were not sharing it, people were not listening to them and it was not prevented.
