How long did it take to break through in the biz and what did it for you?

So many people get into this biz looking for a quick buck. Sometimes it happens and most of the time it doesn't. Persistance is generally the key, as well as making a few great connections along the way.

How long did it take you to really break through in this biz to where you felt like your income was more than enough to live off of? What finally pushed you over the border of almost making it and being a real success? Did you become a success by hard work, original ideas, or through contacts that put you where you needed to be while they guided the way?

To all you new guys and girls... When do you think your day is coming, and what do you think will push you over to the good side?

Being stone-cold broke, living off of $180/mo in graduate school did it for me out of desperation!

Survival is always a good motivator.

The first day our adult news rag ad hit for 976-TITS every tape loop machine in our rack lit up and starting playing recorded messages of girls cuming and talking dirty.

Its scary to think digital audio hadn't even been invented yet and we had to rely on endless mechanical analog tapes running on industrial type tape recorders to broadcast recorded phone sex.

I remember when we bought the very first digital audio card that had been invented to use in an IBM XT a couple years later and thinking ok now we're talking.

hmm..stared 5 yrs ago, took me a year to make any headway at all. 2 yrs ago I left the business and when I returned about 10 months ago, I decided I'll never work for anyone again, and will own at least 51% of anything I go into. That's what changed it.

I was lucky in 1978 it was easier, anyone who had a decent camera, knowledge how to use it, and a pretty girl could sell pictures.

Getting started selling on the Net took about 6 months of getting listed on every resource site and posting on every board I could find. Pissed off a lot of people, but that's me.

Blowout deal. 880 videos, 2,400 image sets, plus many RAW videos. $500.

I struggled for years before I realised that I could make money easily by being an actor in the highly profitable world of beast porn. Now I rake in the dough by fucking animals on screen and life couldn't be better.

There's nothing like a rhino vagina to get the mojo going!

KRL... I never knew you started with 976 numbers. It's always good to learn things about people! You seem like you've been around the block quite a few times, and it doesn't seem like you're stopping anytime soon!

Charly... You do great work and I'm glad the net aspect of biz has taken off for you. Again... another veteran who has earned everything he's made!

I would say anyone who isn't just supporting their survival, but can actually save money every month and buy nice things they want has had a breakthrough.

To be honest I worked about 6 months in this biz before I even really saw a cent. Some may say I am lame, but I didn't want to do the whole TGP gallery submit bullshit (too much like regular work if you ask me) so I learnt enough SEO to make myself a living. After that I submitted to google and within the next few updates I was starting to make some nice cash. I only do this part-time (considering I study full-time), but I definetly make enough money to assure that I don't have to take on a peon's job.

Good stuff. Persistance paid off for you and there's nothing wrong with that! One thing is pretty much certain in most cases: Once you get a taste of the money working in this business, it makes it VERY difficult to want to actually get a job out in the real world...Hell... In this field, it makes it difficult to even want to see the outside world!

                                              (a real response)
what got me started... lack of something else to do and survival.
car wreck broke my neck (compression fractor really) was laid up on my back, was already a main stream server admin just had to learn html a bit more.

I didn't make shit the first two years, I made enough to pay the basics of life barely and that was thin at best but yes I was peristant, but 18 months ago made my key connection with somone and took me over the edge right there. So it wasn't a great concept or original idea just hard work.

Not rich but I'm making more then I did as a MCSE+I/CCNP so I am content.

I'll consider myself a success when I break 200k a year net in my pocket...

One thing is pretty much certain in most cases: Once you get a taste of the money working in this business, it makes it VERY difficult to want to actually get a job out in the real world...Hell... In this field, it makes it difficult to even want to see the outside world!
Indeed. When I saw my first few good listings I was unbelievably excited. That first day I made over $100US (great money for a student) and it sure as hell got me thinking. Although I could take it relatively easy now (keeping in mind SEO can be dangerous game) I continue to work on new sites every day. Who knows, I may never even need my degree.

That can be quite true... there have been times I've been flamed by people and all it's done is kicked me in to the next gear because I've wanted to prove them wrong and just bury them.

My motivation has been people looking down on me, acting like they don't see me and thinking I don't exist. I awake every morning to see my stats looking better and better, and it keeps me moving. I've been blessed to have the connections that I have, and I learn something new from each one. I'm looking to make a lot of noise this year and hopefully be somebody that people give a fuck about. If people don't give a fuck about me, I'll keep pushing until they do... And once they do, I'll push even harder!

I'm making my living now. 2004 is the year for me to break past the "getting by" line, and start making what I need, plus some extra pocket change to treat some of you fucks to drinks and lap dances at upcoming shows.
