NBC Primetime Wheelchair guy at the convention....

Yet only 1 person asked me if I wanted any help pushing down that hallway from hell between the Venetian and the Convention center.

I saw you...

I didn't ask you if you needed help - because from personal
experience.... my son is also in a wheelchair and he never
wants help... he actually get's mad if I try... he say's
"Mom stop... I'm not helpless..."

plus he likes to keep his arm muscles built up and
get as much exercise as he's physically able to get...


the exception to my personally learnt life experience would
be if I saw someone elderly in a wheelchair and if they looked
like they NEEDED help...

but I will also add - that if I had been walking near you
and you had asked for help or had dropped anything - I would
have gladly helped you...

and if at a future event - I am there and you see me - if you
need help - come get me... I'll help you...

No offense, but most people in a wheelchair get offended if you even acknowledge that they are in one. You could have made some cash letting people sit in your lap and wheeling them down the hallway though.

do most ppl in wheelchairs feel that way? i always thought rule of thumb was ppl in wheelchairs are 'independent' 'i can do it myself' type of ppl and would look at you as if you were thinking they were helpless....

?

just trying to find out how to be polite without hurting people's feelings....

I wonder what this story will be. No doubt it will benegative, just about what and to what extent?
