Like most other Americans, I was only exposed to English as a child. I learned Greek and Latin in school but these are dead languages. I don't currently speak any living language well enough to converse in it. I have studied several (mostly exotic languages) and have a general familiarity with the grammar of many others.
I'm not saying this to brag. I have a PhD in linguistics. Studying the properties of human language is what linguists do.

We have to learn a mandatory of 3 languages during our years in school.
Swedish being one in finland, but I don't like it nor did I ever learn it properly. I did however learn french and english quite well.
I think Finnish people have an advantage over central-europeans because 99% of our tv shows are in english with subtitles, so we hear english everytime we open our tv's.
Latin is quite good though, you'd probably learn spanish, italian and french easier than the rest of the nation.
I'm currently learning spanish since I plan to move to the warmer climate of Costa del sol in a few years.. and those homos don't speak anything but spanish.
