That reminds me, I should start surfing the gay newsgroups more often and see if any of my shit is in there. I have a feeling it must be popular in the twink groups.

                  Hello

You are mistaken. Any photo taken is owned and is copyrighted by someone. This is why webmasters license content.

Just because someone steals a photo from a website and posts it to a newsgroup does not make it in the public domain and free for you to use on your websites.

That is like saying if someone steals your car and leaves it on the street then it is free for the next person to come along and take.

When we find people using our images without a license we pursue all legal remedies available to us....and it doesn't matter where they get the image.

I suggest you consult an attorney on this matter.

well sunshine, i hope you're kidding. but if you are not, think again.

this might have worked in the 90's.

but then Bill Clinton signed the "no-electronic theft" act.

so if you lift any of my content here's what i will do.

i won't bother sending you a cease and desist.

i will send a cease and desist to your host and e-commerce vendors, naming these entities as contributory infringers.

and they will pull the plug on your website(s) faster than you can say "look at all the free content i found".

let me "splain" it to you then.

                              some content producers are professional.

they can actually prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that they own their images (many content "producers" cannot).

so i will give everyone here a brief tutorial on the way things work.

when you shoot content you produce a closeup of the model holding her ID next to her face so both are legible in a closeup photograph.

you can see in this photograph her signature, which will match the signature on the closeup of the model release, which you will also photograph.

you will also create for each photo session at each unique location a "long shot" showing the same model holding her ID but also including the environment (the room, set, etc.) to visually establish that she is present this day in this environment.

any time you change shooting enviroments you do this again.

the professional content producer does not go after Johnny Asswipe working out of his bedroom stealing images off usenet. you will not be going to jail and since you don't have a pot to piss in and no one will be coming after you for $ damages.

but if you use a hosting service or an e-commerce vendor you can find in the fine print of all of them throughout the world a link for "agent of copyright". educate yourself and look at it.

today, these are the Deep Pockets the professional content producer will lean on to pull the plug of your websites.

and believe me, your websites will go dark, and fast.

IF you are dealing with a professional content producer.

obviously, many have never been challenged in a copyright issue:

read the fine print on every hosting service or e-commerce vendor you want.

i can't speak for other content providers, all i know is what i do when someone steals my stuff.

i don't deal with the thief, i deal with his vendor:

and i have shut down a few, and had my content removed from others.

                                      it's called being a businessman.

but you can check ccbill, ibill, jettis, you name it. they do not want to be named as "contributory infringers" so they pull the plug on the offender.

"lighten up"? ask your host to lighten up.

                                              no prob.

                                              perhaps it was a joke.

                                              but content theft is not.

it costs real money to hire models and produce quality content.

and there is lots of theft.

my basic point is this. most content producers don't know HOW EASY it is to prevent their stuff from being stolen.

you do not need attorneys and lots of time.

you are dealing with DMCA and if you follow the proper channels you can get your material removed fast from other websites.

i know because i have done it.

and i actually do this for a living, and have been doing it for a living for a long time.

and you can call me a dipshit if you want. i am a dipshit that is probably in the top 2% of income earners partly because i pay attention to the details.

                                                        ok, it's a joke.

but because i didn't get the joke, perhaps people that think it's a good idea to steal content won't get the joke.

some years ago, a very properous new england based porn site was accused of stealing a prominent producer's content. this producer posted his sample images regularly in usenet.

i read interviews at the time that the guy boasted that his site took in about 40K/month. he was doing an interview with some mainstream news service.

it was a great domain name.

                                                        the site had great marketing.

but it was well-known the site was built in large part with usenet content.

                                                        the site was called:
