Sleazy's just a TGP guy, he doesn't know any better.
Granted he knows what he knows, alot of these 'Elite' guys forget where they came from and the struggle the steps were going up. Either that or sponsors doing a bait'n switch once you've sent them traffic weren't common on his way up.

Yeah, I got switched over to the system where I make less money too. I was pissed, but there was nothing really I could do. I lost a bunch of money when they did that too, but so far it has been my best program on a non-adult site. Also still haven't recieved December's check yet.
apparently you can't handle the truth. AFF isn't some huge scamming outfit, they're just a big company with scammish tendencies. You'll get paid (usually), but not a lot and not what you were expecting.
Sleazy,
I don't know this guy at all, I don't necessarily buy his story, and I've never promoted AFF, but I'd like to ask you a related question and see what your take on it is.
here goes:
-ClickCash seems to have a reputation among smaller affiliates for terming people when they are owed money. However, PersianKitty has heavily promoted them for years and has never had a single problem with them.
-AFF seems to have a similarly mixed reputation among SOME smaller affiliates (as evidenced above), however you have promoted them heavily for years and have nothing but praise for them.
-The Question: Do you think it at all possible, or is it totally out of the question, that different standards are being applied to high profile accounts while the unwashed masses are being abused?
I don't intend to single out ClickCash or AFF here, and I have no reason to believe that either program is doing anything wrong, I'm just using hearsay about them for an example.
Aff is golden, It is a very large organization. The owner is one of the most standup guys that I have ever met. Also more recently I have been making more oney with them than ever before and I have been with them since 1995.

BTW, not saying that they aren't large - that the owner isn't standup (there are many levels of 'standup' & who he is 'standup' with)
We've only heard good things about alot of other 'solid' & 'standup' companies - then a few months down the line - checks get lost in the mail - some bug in their system fucks the calculations up - databases are stolen - shaving gets exposed and alot of other shit that goes on behind all their 'solid standup' facade.

AFF decided my traffic was worth 1 cent per unique IP a day. If I send them 3,000 uniques a day, then that's $30 a day for me.
It's in their terms. They can't just up and decide "hey, this guy's traffic isn't worth what we promised him. let's change it".
Anyways, that's not why they decided to pull me.
Let me clarify: I am not a scammer/spammer/whatever.
Their automated system flagged me because I had an "unusual" amount of free email accounts signing up under me. They investigated, decided I was not spamming/scamming them, and reinstated my website.
But it was too late for their 3rd party check company to send out my check, so the lady promised it 2 weeks from then. 1 week later they cut my check in half. How, exactly, is that ethical/fair/legal?
Never had a problem with them. In December they sent a check out from one of my small sites:
12/3/2003 84.72 Sent By Raquel on December 9, 2003
TOTAL $84.72
/\ /\ their minimum is $50. And I've received two $60ish checks from them.
I just realized maybe why I'm being called a scammer. I'm not asking for monetary help.
I'm asking if anyone (like the person a few posts above) knows direct contact numbers, or people in power inside AFF, who they think would be able to help me.
Because I can send 50 emails to their listed address, and not get a single response.
All I'm asking for is some help to get in touch with AFF directly, and try to work out my problems with them.
Believe me or not, I'm really just trying to figure this all out.
-The Question: Do you think it at all possible, or is it totally out of the question, that different standards are being applied to high profile accounts while the unwashed masses are being abused?
no. i have some inside knowledge of their operarion and AFF is as clean as they come.
notice that the people who are whinning tend to also have usually have 'problems' with other sponsers, hosts, processors, etc. it's not a co-incidence

Dude unfortunately your in the wrong place
it sounds preety fucked what AFF did to you
the best advise i can give you is just forget it and move on - try a progam with fixed payouts you'll be far better of

Wow, I've been on the board perhaps less than a month, so grew accustomed to the typical manner people talk here. I'm truly impressed and it's refreshing to see a post that's not just throwing out a judgement in some crude fashion, but is constructive and well thought out. Pretty cool in my book.
I dont think I have complained about any prog before........(Sleazy)
But I have had probs with AFF as well.....
I am not sure they are they scamming..... I just think there "automatic" systems for detecting cheats are a little over zealous
This is proven by the thread starter, they did admit it was wrong.... but do you think they would given her anything if she hadnt persisted with email and phone calls?
She would have just been called a scammer and they would have had a few extra $s in the bank
AFF used to place fictitious ads and pictures of females on their site in order to get people to join. Don't know if they still do it but tells ya what kind of operation they are.

I'm probably one of the 'unwashed masses' and as I said earlier, never had a problem since day 1 - 1999
turn them into the BBB for unpaid money. You worked for it, you have proff saying how much you SHOULD get in a check, and you havent recieved full payment. Reason enough to turn them in.

Too bad you signed away your rights to that money when you joined the affiliate program.
There's nothing in the law that says they have to pay you, in fact the law is there to make sure that they have the right NOT to pay you.
The payouts are clearly stated too. You're paid per click IF you send traffic of a quality good enough for it to be worth it for them to pay you that money. If you send shit traffic, you get your fair share of the sales.
It's not fair to AFF to expect them to hand you money just because you unloaded some garbage traffic on them.

I just reviewed your site and see what
happened. You signed up on a CPC
deal and were sending just a few clicks
per day for a few months. As the signup
rate was high, you were making a good
rate per click. Then, starting in december,
you decided to start sending popups (via
onloads) and your uniques per signup
went up over 25 TIMES. This knocked
you below our lowest clickrate and
triggered the conversion to a percentage
deal - which still makes you fairly close
to the per click rate - for your exit traffic.
One note on the slow email response
this past few weeks. We just hired two
more full-time affiliate managers and
have two more coming on board next
week. They are now replying back to
all emails by noon (PST) every day -
by 3pm on Monday for weekend emails.
BTW, by reviewing your site and traffic
patterns (e.g., you have a fairly strong international component to your traffic),
I can see some easy ways to improve
your traffic conversion. Already, AFF is
automatically translating to 4 different
languages, but you should consider
exiting the traffic to either a search
results page or the registration page.
Please give Charity an email back to
discuss options.

Ah, some fucking honesty at last.
As I've been saying for a while, 1:300 is not bad, 1:200 is good for an adult personals site.
1:20 is pure bs. No one gets that unless maybe they filter the traffic through the entire tour first.

Exactly what happened to me with another dating site. It was about 2 years ago when I got started in this biz.
I sent the 1000's hits made lots of cash only for the signup ratio to be below 1-12 or whatver, I got $50 quid from them in the end for all my work...
Shits those programs are a total con and I would never reccomend them to anyone..
Actually I seem to remember the signup page saying "the majority of our webmasters stay within 1 in X ratio, so this shouldn't be a problem if you send quality traffic" yeah right....
Someone should start AFFsucks.com and encourage 100 webmasters to all get together and lauch a class action against them for misleading information.

Funny, he doesnt address the fact that they went back and changed his payout from previous months and basically stole $550 from him. What a fucking joke.
What I would do is cut your losses and move on. Some people will have good experiences with a company and some a bad. Read through this thread. If it doesn't work for you and you don't think your getting what your traffic is worth there are plenty of sponsor out there that will pay for your traffic just find something that works for you and you'll be a much happier man with a much bigger wallet.

seems pretty clear and upfront to me
you sent traffic to a ppc that was decent traffic
then ya unloaded a buncha consoles onto a ppc program
that turned your ratio to poo and the company is paying you what your traffic is worth.
AFF is one of the better converting programs out there right now

Good Lord, did you even read their FAQ?
"My account was converted to a percentage payout. Why?
It is stated on our affiliate agreement that if your traffic produces less than 1 free signup in 20 visitors, or 1 paying membership in 25 free signups, your account may be converted retroactively to a "percentage payout" account. Affiliates not meeting these ratios will be converted at the end of each month. By taking these measures we ensure it will be a win-win for both parties involved."
It says nothing about maintaining a ratio of 1:400, but rather 1:25, which according to your post sounds like you were'nt even close to. It also says they can retroactively convert your account, be thankful for what your getting as its obvious your traffic to them was shit.
"WTF, on google you can find the answer to every question in human history, EXCEPT how to convert cams..
His beef is that they did not (he says) honor this portion of their own rules. It's a legitimate beef if true, and you'll note the company rep carefully did not respond to the allegation.

AFF is NOT an employer. They share revenue with the webmasters who send them traffic. There's nothing that says they HAVE to pay you.
WTF does that have to do with anything? So because someone is not an employer they can retroactively go back and change the terms after the fact?
once again, i don't buy that AT ALL. I know hundreds of people with small accounts with aff that never had any problems with them - mind you they had real sites with real traffic.
Sleazy, I usually like reading your posts, but fuck n a.
Just because they pay you, unless you are sitting in the AFF office right now (most likely giving head) you have no clue what they do to others.
Sometimes, "good" sponsors do fucked up shit, that's the way of life, stop being such an asskissing idealist.
heres how i see it... they shouldnt offer the per click program if they arnt gonna pay you for that... sure they want signups too cause that makes them their money, but if they arnt gonna follow through on what they say, then they shouldnt offer that program... plain and simple, thats like me telling someone who wants to advertise on my site "if your banner gets boring to me, im just gonna take it down".
