I was seriously thinking about getting my own merchant account but was wondering about cheat protection. Would I have to provide my own scrubbing capabilities or is that generally provided? Or do I even need to worry about that?

Usually the merchant provider offer their own scrubbing system... otherwise make sure it's compatible with netbilling or other scrubbing system.
It comes down the each merchant provider. There's no universal answer."There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die." -Hunter S. ThompsonComment

Netbilling will offer it to you, but in order to qualify in the first place, you will need a substantial deposit, and a US corp.Comment

Netbilling provides a huge amount of fraud protection and they have a call center also to handle all customer support issues and billing inquiries which really helps reduce chargebacks and disputes as well.Originally posted by Steen2
Almost all gateways provide slight fraud protection but it might not be enough for most Adult sites.
They setup merchants account too.

It depends on the gateway. Some offer all kinds of fraud scrubbing and some don't provide any. When you get your merchant account, you might want to ask what fraud scrubbing protection the gateway they set you up with will provide or recommend a gateway to you.
PayWide.com can give you fraud scrubbing protection along with other things (password management, rebilling, affiliate tracking, etc.) if the gateway doesn't provide it.Comment
