I have a database of around 5000 galleries. I need them categorized into 50 predefined categories, descriptions and image count. How much would it cost me if I should pay someone to do it? How much would it cost if I only need the galleries categorized?

It depends on whether you hire a good writer or not.

Getting the galleries categorized is most important for me. I can do around 200 galleries per hour myself, so that would be 25 hours of work. It doesn't take any special skills to put galleries into predefined categories.
Writing descriptions and counting images of course is more demanding and time consuming. I would estimate 50-75 hours of work.Comment

8 cents per description is 8 dollars per hour if you can do 100 descriptions per hour. For descriptions I would need a person with english as native language, so maybe 8$ per hour is too low. But for sorting galleries into categories, I need somebody with a computer and a connection to the Internet, that's it. I'm not looking for someone with a ph.d. degree. As far as I know 5$ per hour would be a pretty fair salary for a guy from the Philipines or India.Originally posted by AaronM

Both have their place, but when quality counts, then it must be paid for accordingly. I'm going to gather a list of people who write and kinda tack it someplace on my site for questions like this. Maybe a "Writer Referral" list that I can just post for folks.

I don't need a writer to sort galleries. I need a guy with a computer and a connection the Internet. I need a writer for writing descriptions. Right now I'm trying to decide if I should get my galleries categorized AND described, or if I should skip the descriptions.
