    I am getting a little worried here

    I was reading undermyspell's thread about her friend that wanted to know what to get some chick for Valentine's Day, and I was surprised at how many people here actually fall for that crap.

    So, I ask, how many of you guys are planning on buying VD presents, or taking that special someone out to dinner? And how many of you chicks are thinking "he sure the hell better get me something?"

          I know I sure as hell better get her something. Just like every month I get her something for our "anniversary". I'm out of fucking ideas and sick of it. I said we should stop exchanging gifts after 6 months, she said after a year we'll celebrate it yearly.

          She's a good sport and will accept large orders of sex toys though, bad part is we've already got everything short of a strap on so she can do me and those rubber fists and feet. Not going there.

              and i was thinking how i just did all this shit this weekend for our 6 months anniversary and now i have to do it again in a couple weeks? fuck that.

                                          The most ridiculous thing was when christmas, her birthday and our "anniversary" were all in the same week. It's not the money that bothers me, it's the shopping. DAMN.

                                              last year I went into the local flower shop to get some flowers for the wife. they were dealing with 4 guys at the same time. the shop lady asked me if i wanted one dozen or two dozen roses. she had all the other guys on the same hook - outdoing each other.

                                              i told her I wanted ONE ROSE. the guys all looked at me and laughed.

                                              I smiled and told them I havn't bought her flowers in years and I'll get laid with one or 50 flowers - so why buy the other 49?


                                              the other 4 guys stopped and thought about it - and all bought one rose each too. the flower lady wanted to kill me.

                                                      I think when you spend a long time with someone.. and you live together, have daily grind + house + kids, its nice to have a day a year where you can stop and remember why you're with that person. What about them is special to you, why you love them, etc. It isn't so much about the gift, it's about the celebration of loving each other.

                                                                          Oh my god, I would be crushed if my husband/bf/so didn't even acknowledge me on Valentine's Day. Commercial or not, that's the universal day here to remember the person you care about. Doesn't even have to be a present, but I think it would be horrible not to do anything for your sweetheart. As a matter of fact, about the best thing I could think of would be a handwritten letter on good stationary and sent through the mail. I love crap like that.

                                                                          Of course flowers, jewelry, dinner, etc. would do if you can't write.

I expect SOMETHING on that day. I'm not expecting jewelry or anything expensive, a simple gesture would make me happy. My hubby wrote me a poem once and I'll never forget it, stuff like that is what I want.

Lovey and I was miserable if I wasn't with someone. Boyfriend, husband(s), marriage, kids made me realize that any moment (if you get one) where you can steal a kiss or let your juices flow without interruption is better than any 'allocated' day by marketing geniuses. A good drink & giggle in bed before a good romp beats a superficial 'day' for me.
                                                                                                                                                              My husband does everything for me......never complains about it either - plus he has to deal with my character too......if that's not 'LOVE' plastered on his heart with a cherub.......I don't know what love is. I'd rather him showing me his love and affection in this way, than buying me something that I don't necessarily need and being inconsiderate with me for the next 364 days of the year.

                                                                                                                                                                                          I'm not huge on getting presents although i'm really big on giving them. For me though I would love to have a cup of coffee in bed, my hair brushed for me, or just something thoughful ANY day of the year not just on Valentine's day. This friend just wanted to give something to a special persona because she hasn't experienced the "specialness" of valentines day in a long time. One of the best gifts I ever got was a domain name registered and a site designed for that domain and the URL sent to me as the signature to a beautiful poem.

                                                                                                                                                                                                  I am considerate and loving to my boyfriend all year long, as likewise with him for me, doing the little things, suprises and flowers for nothing, or even just a night at home with a movie.

                                                                                                                                                                                                  But, I also enjoy Valentines Day for no reason really, just because I can, so I choose to. It doesn't have to be anything big, but a nice dinner, and an evening alone is all that really matters.

                                                                                                                                                                                                  And I do get the boyfriend a present as well ..

                                                                                                                                                                                                  It's fun, you over analyze something like this and whats the point? It's just another damn day.. why not spruce it up and make it Valentines Day just for the hell of it.
