The big one was a moonfish, I had some neons and one of those suck fishies (old one to).

for temperature and flood detection...it'll keep calling a list of numbers when things go out of range. I reckon you could add some electrical insulation and stick one in a fish tank too to alert you to water temp problems.

this happened to my uncles 20 yr old pirahana and my 3 yr old. (not in the same tank, but within days of each other.) They got so excited chasing goldfish that they knocked around their heaters and broke the glass. My tank tripped the main breaker but it was too late, my uncles never tripped a thing but did spark a little and boil the water around the heater so he knew not to touch it.

When I was living in the Bay Area, something similar happened to my tank... the temp. outside hit 115F, and my tank got over 100F in a single day (I was at work and had no central air or A/C on a thermostat). Lost all of my fish.

That sucks, Fonz. When I bought my heater, I bought an Ebo Jager heater; a bit more expensive than most, but it never even tried to screw up in any way. Better luck next time if you get back into the hobby... fish kick ass... they don't shit all over your house, and they don't wake you up at night!
