    Maestro coming to the internet?

    http://www.maestrocard.com/internetpurch/

If an easy, realiable way to pay with Maestro cards online is introduced, Euro signups will explode. Many Europeans don't have credit cards, yet do have internet access, money & a Maestro card.

So are there any adult processing companies on this yet?

Maestro Card can already be accepted online, or in one form or another. In Germany I can use a Maestro Card to pay for things, the money is taken right out of my account; Debit Card.

How widely is Maestro OFFERED in the US/Canada?

It can already be accepted online, but there isn't a widely used standardized form of online payment for all Maestro cards.

Next time you get money from an ATM, have a quick look around. 10 to 1 chance that the Maestro logo will be there.

Same here, as far as I know it doesn't exist in North America

Did you see how I spelled OFFERED and did not write accepted? Do US/Canadian banks give out Maestro Cards?

Its not the MAESTRO system used for this in germany, its simply ELV, which you do not need Maestro for, has a return rate like online checks and is in general expensive and not a good solution to the problem.

If what maestro say will REALLY happen soon, punkworld is very much correct, sales will _EXPLODE_. The converage of Maestro in Europe is HIGHER than VISA/MC in USA (percentage wise of course). This could be a VERY BIG THING. Of course, Maestro is owned by Mastercard, so they know what adult is already and know how to handle it, so there will be issues, but this is a VERY GOOD THING if it really happends. Banks need to participate though, which means this is probably kinda like Verified By Visa, which is a bad thing since banks in europe generally are quite bad with integrating internet stuff in their cards, I for example do not know many banks (none exist in germany) that support Verified by Visa.

Did you realize I was responding to your first paragraph, not your second one?

I think that *if* it happens and becomes widely accepted, a 20% growth in overall online adult sales is not unthinkable.

Not sure if 20%, but european sales will be a LOT easier. Suddenly all of europe will have credit card-like system to pay securely online. In Europe virtually anyone having a bank account has a maestro enabled card.

I think 20% is actually possible. Remember the majority of sales now come from the US.
There are more people living in Europe though, and the majority of them do not have credit cards while they do have internet access and do have money to spend.

All of my US Bank/Debit cards have the Maestro logo on the back of them.

                              Spend you some brain.
