Will Shaving Increase now that CB pain is going to increase?
Also with slow death of popups and cross sells rumored to be on the way out, 2 things can happen........keep payouts the same but increase shave OR lower payouts
In time the PPS cash cow will produce less and less milk - no matter how hard you try to squeeze the teats, so if affiliates want the same payout, then they will have to choose:
1. Tighter affiliate control, more shaving etc.
2. New business model
Lower overall payouts would make the industry stronger, since it would clear the way for new sponsor concepts, new billing options/methods etc. however right now most affiliates would rather get paid $35 on a low cost CC trial, then try to shape the future.
At the end it doesn´t really matter, since evolution takes no prisoner - given a long enough timeline, then we are all doomed
Surfmastering : a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery
if you isolate fraud, cross sales etc paysites that retain more than the industry average seem to have extremely small cb %
I can't back it up with numbers, but that's the feedback im receiving from paysite owners. You can see a logic from the surfers point of you as well on this.

big paysite owners your thoughts please
Those that isolate fraud, no cross sales, updated daily with good content, etc. mean lower chargebacks. But lower chargebacks doesn't mean longer retention (or more money). Chargebacks have nothing to do with retention that I can think of. If a site doesn't retain customer now, they won't either when they find a way to lower chargebacks.
I bet alot of these chargebacks are from just not canceling customers when they request it or giving them a refund when they complain.
You might be thinking that they will lower chargebacks by making their site better, therefore the retention will be better. I think they'll then more likely cancel them when they request it rather than spend money to make their site better.

I think so too. But how many surfers will skip a refund request and go directly get a cb because they found disappointing the members area? Even webmasters among us go get a cb when the service wasnt what they expected. (we saw such thread yesterday). I'm afraid there are lot of 'em..... By meeting surfers expectations you retain them more and keep the cb levels lower. I cant tell if the difference is that noticable overall.
Will shaving increase or not? If a sponsor managed till now to stay below visa % limits, has a high per trial payout with no shaving going on......I can tell there's still room for improving and meeting surfers expectations. How many sponsors are like these? A couple. For the moment i'm staying with them.
Monitor the billing practises of your sponsor. If you notice a serious change while the payouts remain the same start to worry about :-)
I'm expecting to see the impact of popupblocker on the new IE update. No doubt 2004 is gonna be again the year of drastical changes. Afterall its the adult industry
keep a close eye on your affiliates and give them a reasonable payout for their traffic, don?t have misleading billing tactics, offer good value in the members area and regularly update, use a good web host, offer good customer support, take responsibility for running and managing ALL aspects of your business...run a good business and you will have low chargebacks
If you need a good company for check writing services, then check out checkissuing, and for webhosting, check out Phoenix NAP

True that, we are at 0.09% right now, no trials selling quality product & lots of updates = almost no chargebacks.
Try the New XMovies.com and make more $$$ with your Traffic

I will diasagree on your myth senario... that has been something that has been around forever .. but i will say that if you actually have a site that is worth a shit then your retention ratio will be better hence you will be able to keep a great % program and not ever have to think about shaving a webmaster ..
