Fuck outsourcing, globalisation, all that shit. What we need is blue collar jobs and a strong domestic economy. Employees should be able to afford the products they make.

Too bad working class America has gone to shit.

How do you know what's written where? What's for sure is that US corporations will be able to buy it no matter where it's written. And the whole world doesn't resolve around the software industry.

If the money these Indians get could be taxed in a legal way and in favor of the indian people, it would ultimately improve the economic status of the entire region, and in turn their internal economy would reflect that improvement with overall inflation of wages and goods, thus, they would not have the choice but to raise the prices for services, and in that proccess; business begins to return home.
I'd even pay a bit more to have service from a local firm.

What in the world do you think this topic is about? Outsourcing tech jobs, i.e. programmers.

This topic is about government work not being outsourced. I have no problem at all with that and I don't think that such work should be outsourced. Corporations though should do whatever they want.

Corporations already do whatever they want. That's a huge problem that needs to be ended.

Mmm.. I did think corporations were answerable to their shareholders and acting accordingly. I never knew they had to answer to the US govt??

Perhaps if they govt presented a viable economic proposition as to why they should stay in the US, some may heed it.

Now I remember one of the reasons why we did not incorporate in the US.....

You really want a big brother type of government who tells you how to run YOUR business?

No, but at some point they do need to be held accountable for their actions. Remember Enron?

Outsourcing is a problem but doing something about it could possibly cause a trade war. What could be done about it anyway? Maybe raise taxes on businesses who outsource?

Whats the difference between importing goods or importing labour? Nothing.

I guess people have complained about imports for centuries and it is now only natural that they will complain about outsourcing.

When you think that the main "outsourcing" countries are India, China and the next in the queue is going to be Russia - these three countries alone will change the current trading balance.

All have a high percentage workforce who are trained and educated to take on any outsouring the world provides. Even if you assume over 90%+ of the population live off the land and have no qualifications, - that still leaves in excess of 300million qualified people. This clearly exceeds the working population of the US at this time and these numbers will keep increasing.

Counties who "consume" and do not manufacture/export are heading for some major changes ... I'd think within five years.

If it comes to that I would think the government would step in. I hope it doesn't come to that though.

Agreed to a point. Yet the big word here is 'consumer'. We are the biggest consumers in the world for one-good-reason:

                                            FREEDOM

Not total freedom but enough to realize that we can purchase goods and services to indulge ourselves. Primarily sports and partying. No other country has the sports enthusiasm like the U.S. Just flying over the country you see baseball diamonds, golf courses, stadiums etc.

                                            We-like-to-play.

Other countries vary in their enthusiasm but no one beats the U.S. at play.

We don't have guns to our heads if we win or lose. Heck, losing is sometimes more fun than winning. Somebody's gotta get rid of them kegs that were gonna be used at the victory party.

Look at China. They have sports and they gamble like no tomorrow. But can they to any degree seek real happiness? Not with a gun to their head.

Same with India. 1 billion + people and most not enough to eat but they live in a region that is so fertile if they all became farmers they could feed the world 10 times over.

But guess what? That's our job. We've been feeding the world for 100 years and the other countries still don't fucking get it. If they stopped all the bullshit bigotry and fighting they'd be makin' so much food they'd all be fat asses like us.

Look at Africa and S. America. Either one of these places has far more farming potential than we have BUT their people are fighting gangsters and warlords all the time.

So the problem isn't with outsourcing it's with responsible outsourcing and education.

Maybe if we made enough soccer balls and hockey sticks people would be too busy having fun to kill each other.

Well, maybe not the hockey players.
