First off, you're wrong NYC is pro-democrat as is the ENTIRE New England region save NH, ME, VT.
The devil is in the details, and that's precisely why people think a simple solution will work. They can understand it and intuitively believe it will work.

Kerry is going to win, simply because the devil will be in the details (and in the percentages) and there are more people who despise Bush than there are those who like him. The protest yesterday drew more people than the pro-Bush demonstrations in a city filled with Republicans.
