The entire concept of the EC negates the belief that "every vote counts". Say there's 5 million people voting in a state (I live in PA and in the last presidental election, we had close to 5 million voters). Now, if candidate A gets 2.5 million votes... he basically wins the state automatically, since there's no way the other guy could get more than half the votes (unless there's no third party votes and they tie...which will happen the day after hell freezes over). Now, if candidate A got 3.5 million votes and won in a landslide... a million of his supporters could've stayed home... their votes meant absolutely nothing. Candidate A still won the state regardless.

What are advantages to the electoral college system (if any) ? It apears to be a flawed system... :-/
