    iDownload.com is Pulling A Ken Lawson!!! Thanks 49th Parallel!

    We're bowing to publing pressure and removing the recurring language from our terms.

    We had considered adding a recurring option to our software sales, but have decided that it is best to abandon that idea and persue a more ethical approach to software sales.

    iDownload.com sales are now and will forever be (with the exception of some low priced and very genuine upcoming monthly service products) a one time only fee and there will never be any fine print bullshit.

    So now... comb over our terms and conditions again.

    I hope you'll find that we're good enough to do business with

    Thanks to everybody who voiced their opinions, it has actually made an impact!!!

              I thought the recurring was a good idea. But i also enjoy sniffing glue on occasion. So take it for what its worth.

              Still one of the best programs on the net.

                  recurring is a good idea. and a software of the month club is a great idea. the combination of our products and recurring just isnt meant to be.

                  For our model we are going to stick with one time fees. largely because affiliates feel that they are getting screwed if we somehow ever rebill.

                  Bottom line is that now we're paying you more than 75% of the revenue after our expenses.

                  No other software program will pay you as much.

                      I forgot to mention.

                      We have switched from Jettis (owned by the same guy who bashed us) to http://www.netbilling.com

                      The level of control and detail that Mitch & Crew let you have is just amazing....and our sales are SIGNIFICANTLY higher thus far than they ever were with jettis. Don't know why.

                                                  Can someone fill me in? I was working on my move the last couple days and don't get any of this.

                                                      idownload.com sells software. People on GFY freaked out that the terms said it was $24.95 recurring. Hooper said no one had actually been rebilled it was just there for the future.

                                                      Hooper now says they took that text out of the terms.

                                                                                      It wasn't porn memberships. It was a hard copy software title. Supposedly every month a new version of the title would be sent to the person and they would be billed. I could be wrong, I never understood why they would be rebilling for hard copy software so I didn't pay too much attention.

                                                                                              It actually makes quite a bit of sense to me, and it's not bad reasoning at all from a business standpoint.

                                                                                              I just find it ironic that people making a living off selling subscriptions to surfers who don't make use of them would be bagging on someone else for incorporating that business model into non-adult. And by sending the surfer a hard copy every month it would certainly remind them to either use it or cancel their subscription... something that porn doesn't do.
