Can you explain this? Weird Shit going on.

Can someone please explain to me what the hell is going on. This may sound confusing becasue I dont really know how the fuck to explain whats going on but I will try.

If I send any sites traffic and the site owner checks their website stats and clicks on the referring site (my site) to see who excatly is sending the traffic It will then show up in my reports that they have visited my URL but when I visit the referring URL it goes directly to their website stats without asking for a password. I have seen some interesting stats. Even though this is cool seeing other stats I dont want this to happen to me.

what the fuck is going on?

If the referring URL you are clicking leads to a password-protected area but you are not asked for a password, the URL probably has the password in it like this:

      user:pass@http://www.referring.url/

If not, then either the URL is not password protected or you have already authenticated to get into the password-protected area.

Edit: By the way, many stats directories are unprotected. It is not all that surprising that you are seeing other people's stats without being asked for a password.
