Gator's been an annoying piece of spyware crap for years. Unless it's suddenly changed the answer has to be yes it is.

Yeah its awful spyware. It did a lot of damage on my PC. I di however get it fixed recently though.

Stay away from Kazaa and programs like that. I got a virus so new that there isnt even a name for it yet. Windows went outta wack and I couldnt even get my PC to open.

Well for one, Kazaa doesn't give you virii you have to be extremely
sloppy and go after pirate *.exe(s) within Kazaa's listing and even
at that you still don't get a virus because you have to take the second
sloppy step and click on the thing after it's downloaded to initiate the
virus. So that's two sloppy steps
1 - looking for pirate soft in p2p environments
2 - not scanning downloads before you click on them

The key to running Kazaa spyware free is you need version 2.1.1
and then you delete cd_clint.dll in C:\Windows\System (win98/me)
or C:\Windows\System32 (winXP/2K) and then replace the cd_clint.dll
with a customized cd_clint.dll that's available in a Google search
and this time the new cd_clint.dll goes in the Kazaa folder instead of
the System folder.

The cd_clint.dll is the main spyware engine and after version 2.1.1
the Kazaa ppl got wise to the hacked cd_clint.dll that is floating
around so every Kazaa version after 2.1.1 will not work without the
real spyware installed.

If you do manage to follow through with what I explained above then
when you boot Kazaa it tells you there is an update and all you do
is cancel the notification and stay at version 2.1.1

If you need the 2.1.1 install and the cd_clint.dll I can provide links if I
manage to see this thread again.

Roboform is what you want. Can even import gater database into it. Great for free site / AVS submissions. Manual submissions are 3-5x faster using it.

Gator is trashware. But it isnt even half as bad as www.lop.com. That thing changes your entire desktop, your homepage, deletes crap and when you try to run thier little uninstaller program - it deletes all of your bookmarks in Netscape.
