Which is exactly why anywhere in the south of England now has little if any affordable rented accomodation, especially local authority housing.Originally posted by roly

Actually CD, it's ok! I remembered that you are still single and are granted a little manly man code leeway. No no, you don't understand. I nicknamed my cock "remote".
Sharing remote = ok (if no sports are on)
Cuddling after sex = ok (if you turn it into a nap opportunity)
Talking about your feelings = ok (basic, no in depth)
Helping with household chores = (ok, however, you should start laying the groundwork now by burning dinner, dying the clothes pink when doing laundry, etc.. while still getting credit for trying)

tell me about it, i live near brighton on the south east coast and you're looking at £200k ($360k) for the cheapest crappy terrace house. when you can compare that to what you get for your money elsewhere in the UK and abroad it's a joke.Originally posted by Tipsy

I live a little further west up the coast but we have a very similar problem. The system just isn't designed for the huge influx and there isn't the employment to cope either. This means it has a HUGE impact on the local population and community and none of it goodOriginally posted by sarah_webinc

We're so pissed off with it now we're moving near Manchester. If nothing else at least property is still more than affordable up there.Comment

She looked a little puzzled, but brought him a beer. When he finished it, he said, "Quick, bring me another beer. It's gonna start."
This time she looked a little angry, but brought him a beer. When it was gone he said, "Quick, another beer before it starts."
"That's it!" She blew her top! "You bastard! You waltz in here, flop your fat arse down, don't even say hello to me and then expect me to run around like your slave. Don't you realize that I cook and clean and wash and iron all day long?"

thats stupid. as youv'e seen from this thread a LOT of people love america the way it is. why should us expatriates force our views and (non)beliefs onto a population that doesnt agree? that would be hypocritical and selfish to try to mold a country around your personal tastes.Originally posted by Cindyff
Leaving the USA will change nothing! Stay and make changes, its the only way
theres too many countries out there, one of them (maybe america) fits you, go find it. but for sure dont start changing them because of your own whims.

Now I can see the reason why many US citizens are arriving here.
They appear to range across the spectrum, from singles, families to seniors. The number of familes are increasing.
Why? The common "thread" seems to repeat the word "escape" regularly. They ain't stupid.XXX TLD's - Another mosquito to swat.Comment

I love my country but I hate my government.
Those of you who say "at least we have a Constitution and Bill of Rights to guarantee freedom" are being a bit naive, since our government stopped obeying the Constitution a LONG time ago.
If things keep going the way they're going in the USA (belligerent politicians starting wars, decreased privacy & civil liberties, massive government spending, high taxes, terrorist attacks), I'll probably move to Australia or New Zealand.Comment

The only point noted by the administration is that they can steal an election and no one in your country cares.
'Stote' an election?
Please make factual arguments to back that up (that arguement should include the fact that after all the votes were counted to ANY standard... Bush won Florida).Comment

Hawkeye:
That is the bit that is damned sad Hawkeye! I loved the US.. still do, but realised we got some problems brewing :-)since our government stopped obeying the Constitution a LONG time ago.
Now.. well, every country has elements of crap in their governments, but the US seems to manage to top the list currently. There are many honorable folks in the US government and have served that country well. Sadly there is a "club" of lying crooks as well who have literally pulled the place apart, - certainly not to the advantage of it's citizens and at the same time, brought the status of the US down internationally. Others are looking in and shaking their heads in dismay...XXX TLD's - Another mosquito to swat.Comment

This post reeks of -- 'I want to move, but I want it to be easy'.
Guess what... it's not easy. But if it is important to you and your family, you will find a way.
I did.Comment

Those elements are no worse than in the US, but at least Australia doesn't have a huge bloated military going on adventures around the world and creating enemies for itself. At least they spend money on themselves, unlike in America where our "fiscally conservative" president is demanding over $100 billion in welfare for Iraq.Originally posted by sperbonzo

Once again, I'm not here to teach you anything, if you can't figure shit out on your own, that's your problem. You're a brainwashed, uneducated, unintelligent flag waiver, what makes you think you're worth my time? You're not. I've stopped caring what morons think of me a long time ago, like at age 8. You calling me an idiot is a compliment, as it would be if Rush Limbaugh called me one.Originally posted by broke

Besides all that, I can hardly even understand your posts, they're like reading a scribble message from my 6 year old. "Stote", what the fuck is a stote? "arguement"?
If you didn't read 4 years ago about the fraud involved with the Florida voters, or Bush's relative calling the election early on TV, then I don't expect you to turn off Fox News anytime soon. Grow up kid, next time my only response to you will be Baaaaa.Comment

interesting to wake up to.
thank you to sarah_webinc and others who
tried to provide real info relevant to the topic.
plenty seemed to miss the point tho
this isn't supposed to be personal, about me.
it's supposed to be general, so that people can actually assess
their options the next time a Patriot suggests "dont' like it, leave!".
I want to know where that's a realistic option for everyday people.
and re: asylum, fleeing the country, etc.
lets use this a hypothetical:
You've been producing interracial gay anal gangbang movies
for the last 5 years. One day after Bush's relection, some of
your colleges in the biz start recieving supoenas, there are
horror stores of agents showing up at peoples houses and
seizing computers and other records/property/'evidence'.
Are you just going to sit and wait for them to get around to you?
or make plans to relocate? Our citizens will not revolt in support of you.

me neither, if someone is fleeing genuine persecution then fair enough, we should and always have given them sanctuary in the UK. however i would bet that it's only a tiny fraction that are in that situation. it's mainly ecconomic migrants, i don't blame them if i was young and lived in a poor country, i would do my best to get to a rich country like the US or UK. but if they are ecconomic migrants then we should be picky and only accept people with skills that are in short supply like doctors etc.Originally posted by sarah_webinc
