Maybe I'm not giving the industry enough credit. I agree with you that "most of our companies are run by people who are self taught, self made millionaires." I definitely do see increased knowledge of traditional marketing tactics as the industry has grown.
What disappoints me is the lack of novelty, GIVEN OUR PROFESSION, of marketing vehicles.
It's not that they aren't effective or convincing but rather that I think whole new levels of effectiveness are possible with uniqueness. We are PORNOGRAPHERS. We have so much more latitude in our marketing strategies available to us than we currently see.
I have Nov. 2001 issue of AVN in front of me.
If you have a copy, maybe you could point out some good examples to me of novelty?
