    Weird Virus Thing on Laptop?

    Maybe you guys will know what this is:

    My laptop started outputting strange things when I hit the spacebar a couple weeks ago. Depending on the program I was using, the space bar would call up html code, start a spell checker, or output just gobbledegook (sorry for the technical term).

    I scanned with the newest virus updates and couldn't find anything.

    Does anyone have any ideas? Do I need to do a clean format or what?

          I pried the key off and cleaned it out, then stuck it back on. It doesnt' work half as well now, but it still outputs the weird code.

              Almost sounds like you have your ctrl and V keys are sticking...hence 'paste'...

              I've seen it happen with coke spilled on keys before...

                  but it does it even after a clean boot, when I should have nothing in my clipboard.

                      could very well be a bad connection in the keyboard, or a short....

                          try plugging in another keyboard and see if that fixes the problem... if it does, it's probably a keyboard problem

                                              Yes, it is the keyboard. I plugged one in, and all was fine. No point fixing the keyboard on a three year old laptop, so I guess this increases my traveling accessories by one keyboard.
