Wow. Thats a pretty broad statement. Not to mention the fact that it isn't true.
I'm friends with several cops and I don't think that one of them believes that they're above the law.
One of my good friends (an ex-marine and a sniper on the local swat team) is a good example. He gets more disgusted everytime there's another story about a corrupt cop he's ready to leave the force (he thinks this part time job of mine is "cool"

). However, I know he does his job because he honestly likes it.
Of course, he isn't one of the guys you see pulling over everyone and their grandmothers for innane stuff either. He's one of those that gets sent in to close down crack houses and break up hostage situations.
I think the majority of Cops are good, honest people, who do what they do because they'd like to make a difference in society. Its the fringe (that exist in every occupation, I mean, look at some of the people who frequent this board) that give the group the bad image.
Besides, teaching your kids to hate anyone is wrong.... they should learn it on their own.
