Probably because you're being wilfully clueless.
Flash is the best advertising medium as evidenced by it's ubiquity and support in both adult and non adult markets. Content to bandwidth it can't be beaten in a rich media display, meaning a better use of screen realestate, and whether it's annoying or not it does get attention. There are also the more subtle effects of a company using a good piece of flash gaining a certain cache in the viewers mind of being able to afford to purchase it and eyecandy the site up as opposed to a two bit operation struggling to make ends meet.
