Its impossible to do business that way though Quiet. You have to just hope for the best and expect the worst. Most partners are decent, some are outstanding and great, some are crooks.
You have to trust, even though its hard to, and you just can't be in business as an island. You have to do deals with people and take risks. Just make sure the risk to reward ratios are in sync on all your deals and that way you'll get 1 ripoff out of 10, 4 bombs, 4 decent deals where you at least break even or make something and 1 winner that will make up for the dogs and get you your big returns.
I always preach don't trust, but that's not exactly how I mean it. Its more like don't trust that people have good intentions out of the shoot and just accept that fact that people sometimes exercise bad judgment, make mistakes, slip and slide on you, etc.
Trust yourself as much as possible, and with others hope they'll do what they promise.

Only diversify into things you know and understand first. I have one friend who made $200 Mil in the MLM biz. He started diversifying into everything that came his way without even understanding what he was putting his money into. Ten years later he was flat broke.Originally posted by ravo

whoa, slow down. i don't trust anyone (trust = 100%). it's all about calculated risk. i do it everyday. so very many deals, and my specialty is very long (large volume ie long term) deals. always a risk. caclulated risk is beautiful. i know you probably do it on a scale i can't even imagine...Originally posted by KRL

I agree, I dont trust ANYONE 100% But there's some I do trust. I trust my partners, the guys I work for and a few people I've met the last 8 years in this industry. but it takes a while to get that trust and very little to lose it

Amazing. Losing 200 mill from investments is unreal but not near as huge as making 200 mill from Herbalife.Originally posted by KRL

its all about "calculated risk" and "Trust with verification" if possible.
The rest is all up in the air and some will work out and some will not. Too many people have bad intentions but that cant stop you from living or doing business to achieve your goalsComment

I agree 100%. It's a matter of taking resources (money, knowledge, contacts), and applying them intelligently to new ventures. It's also knowing your limitations, although this sometimes comes at the price of trial and error.Originally posted by KRL

There are many good people in this industry I trust. as long as I'm getting out of it what I need I'm happy.
In this industry or any buisness for that matter you have to take Risks there is no room for bugaboo..Comment

I almost always originally trust people. Sometimes I've gotten screwed over, but every time it's been a good learning process. Oddly, I don't think I've been screwed over as many times as a lot of people who DON'T trust others. I think there's some good in most people that feel bad if they screw you over if you trust them, but love screwing you over if you don't trust them, lol. Then again, I could just be thinking that because I trust people.
HOWEVER, no one ever gets a second chance with me. Ever.
