"We didn't know there WAS another Bush," Mongolian president Nambar Enkhbayar said

Mongolian officials admitted Tuesday they were taken by surprise when President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura stepped off Air Force One.

"We didn't know there WAS ¸another Bush," Mongolian president Nambar Enkhbayar said. "When I saw Mr. Bush I thought he was a guard or something."

Enkhbayar said his first thought when W stepped off the plane: "That's not the dude that puked on the Japanese prime minister. Who is THIS guy?"¸

The Mongolian president's second thought: "Ohmygod, this is the guy who'll NEVER be able to pronounce ANYTHING in this country."

Mongolia, which is not yet wired for the Internet, routinely receives news 10-15 years after the fact. Enkhbayar said that the lack of information has long been a problem and he said his entire country will literally have to be "dragged into the 21st century just like American office workers who refuse to use email."

The dearth of information brought on by the lack of the Internet and email in Mongolia is compounded by the fact that the president's subscriptions to news magazine are routinely lost or years old by the time they are delivered. Enkhbayar, in fact, expressed sympathy to President Bush this weekend over the death of American icon Elvis Presley, apparently unaware The King died 29 years ago.

"You know all those jokes about sending a person to Siberia for punishment?" Enkhbayar asked. "We're actually further out in the middle of nowhere than those guys are. We've done studies. And you Americans think you have a problem with oil prices? You try driving a Yukon on a single tank between Choyybalsan and Bayanhongor. It's nearly impossible."

Mongolia said it expects to have Internet service by 2050, which is the expected amount of time it will take to lay phone lines -- and get everyone in the country a phone.

"Phone?" Enkhbayar asked.

Enkhbayar said his visit with the younger Bush turned out to be a satisfying exchange but the president did express disappointment at not having the chance to talk to the first Bush.

"I was hoping to ask him about that 'Thousand points of light' thing. What's up with that anyway? Plus, I was hoping to meet Barbara. She's a real looker," Enkhbayar commented, holding up a 1965 edition of Time Magazine.
