Half-Life 2 Already Being Illegally Sold in Russia

A short blurb on GamesRadar reports Half-Life 2 is for sale, sort of. It seems the 'leaked' Half-Life 2 source has found itself nicely updated and packaged for sale, in Russia. Some work has certainly gone into this production, as 'Hackers have apparently even gone to the length of translating text in the fully playable code into Russian.' However, one would imagine the game's content would be pretty sparse, and stability and polish lacking on such an early build." Another reader points to a page with more information on the bootleg discs, although only the disc art and packaging is mentioned as being translated.

Half Life 2 isnt out, about 2 months ago someone hacked into Valve who the company who is making it stole all their source code, gfx etc from that time. The you could partialy play some levels and look around but in no way there was a complete game there.. so they are selling this stuff.. the game isnt due out till prob april or summer.. and there iS no demo of this game yet.

Half Life 2 is going to fucking rock. If you haven't already checked out the E3 demo video at fileplanet.com you should go there now if you're interested in FPS games at all.

It'll be out but not for a while IMO. TFC2 was pose to be out almost 3 years ago, and still isn't anywhere to be found. CS:CZ is just better rendered CS MOD running off the HL1 engine, so it won't be anything special. Plus when HL2 comes out I'm sure Valve will want to make CS 2.0 run on the source engine. Yet then again we all know how fast and on time Valve always is *insert sarcasm here*

According to a recent weblog post, a San Francisco native had his house raided by the FBI last week, and 'lost upwards of 9 machines, and lots of misc equipment besides' in a seizure related to the theft of the Half-Life 2 source code from Valve Software." The scanned-in search warrant posted on the site indicates the FBI were looking for "...any IP addresses related to any of the Valve internal or external networks... Valve passwords and/or usernames... any and all items... related to Valve Software, Half-Life, Half-Life 2", and the Hungry Programmers page mentions that "...several Hungries were raided on January 14th by the FBI and Secret Service, and their computers seized."

C'mon do you really believe each time into this story with the hacking? It happens almost with each big and famous project. It's obvious that companies just let the code out to warm up a public.

And BTW, this CD is from Ukraine, not from Russia. The price there is not in roubles, but in Ukrainian grivnas.
