TV News Crews Have No Morals

I really think its rude as hell the way the media tv crews push through crowds where people are in chaos and in dire need of medical care and the rescue crews are trying to save poeple and the tv guys zoom in for closeup shots on the injured and the dead.

The media has no morals.

I think the media are to blame, but so are we for watching it.

They do it because we watch it, and we watch it because they do it.

I suppose it depends how pushy they are and having consideration for others involved in an incident.

Most are scumbags tho!

A friend is a well-known war photographer and he takes some "troublesome" photographs of people in great distress.

His thoughts on doing this are that this is the best way he knows to make folks aware.

He admits to keeping his act together to take shots then turns away weeping. This man does not do it for the money - it's his "crusade". The "normal" crews are often just assholes - they are everywhere!

This guy is still working, although in his 60's and was on a motorcyle on the way to Bagdad when others were getting out:-) His pics include the one of the young girl in Vietnam burning with napalm on her back - she is alive and living in California right now :-)

I never saw that one - there have been a few articles about Don ovet the years - many re the photography side.

There is a Hollywood movie in pre-production stage just now based on his "career" - he's cooperation on this, but wincing at the thought of the end result Don is a very modest guy and already getting tired of being some "celeb" at parties :-)

well, the people that order them to take those shots have no morals.

Now, just turn off the tv everytime those kind of shots come on and shoot off a complaint letter and if enough people do that they will stop ordering those shots. As it is, the more gore the more raitings.

I think ya hit that on the head! :-)

The movitation of news editors (and above) is clearly to pander to the masses and get some "drama" on to the screen and get the viewing figures up.

As for the crews, yea, there are assholes as camermen as well and also "on the ground" producers who ain't got no judgement.
At same time I got little doubt many of these people are in "hype" and "panic-mode" and it may be hard to make judgements and "refine" the images when hell is all round.

It is the responsibility of the studio people to edit, as needed, before sending footage to screens - they know exactly what they are doing :-)

CNN seems to be the main problem in this area - it was not long ago they were clearly transmitting live footage, without going thru any "prudent" pre-transmission editing and showing limbs on the ground after a bombing. (They edited this out on re-runs).

On the other hand - that's what happens in a "war", - folks get blown to bits, but I can't agree with what appears to be indiscriminate footage being thrust on TV screens where families with children can be watching etc.. We might as well be showing hardcore porn to family audiences, least that is often less obscene!
