almost all my furniture (except my bed, dresser, desk and one couch) is from ikea. a whole shitload of knick knacks too (utensils, glasses, bar equipment, towels, tupperware, etc) and i've never had a problem with any of it.

Cheap laminate covered particle board is what makes IKEA's founder rich. 80% of what they sell is simply dressed up sawdust. Do you know moving companies won't even insure particle board furniture? It crushes into powder at the slightest impact. I avoid the stuff like a plague.
There are some true deals at IKEA but you have to look hard. I try to get the "real wood" stuff - even if it's cheap wood like pine or poplar. At least you know it should survive a move.- *** -Comment
