The SSR is suppose to be a comparable replacement for the Camaro but will not be able to capture as broad a demographic. The chatter unconfirmed is that Chevrolet would like to bring back the camaro as a specialty car like the SSR that will have retro influence of the 67-69 model years.
With the Holden platformed GTO in production....it is doubtful the Firebird will return....but you never know
The problerm witht e f-body was that in the end it was just a few more dollars off the sticker than the vette. This alienated the very market the car has always been designed to appeal to....the youth market. A young guy could no longer afford to buy the rumbling V8 tire smoking heritage of the Camaro/Firebird

I think the vette is still a touch too conservative. I would like to see how this new version looks after a couple of years. Will there be a 500 horse Z06???
