    Is money really important for you?

    I mean.. What's the point of having a FUCKING HUGE house if you only spend 20% of your time in the same rooms.

    I'm not a millionaire with this business, it pays the mortage, car, electricity.. all the boring bills..

    I have a very nice home theater room and an ok car.. 2 computer rooms.. etc.. And that's all I need to be happy.

    But I don't know.. Spending more time with my family and being "BOSS" free is more important.. I don't give a damn if I am not a millionaire with a big fucking house or 100 sport cars..

    To be honest, I am working 3 to 5 hours a week and I'm doing more than when I was working for Compuware 60 hours a week

          Money is important to me in that I want to make enough money to invest that I can retire on a healthy passive income. That passive income doesn't have to be huge (I'm not so into the toys) but I do want the freedom to travel freely and buy a few luxuries.

                      I used to make enough money on the web to pay the bills but now that the exchange rate USD -> CAD is going down I need to work much harder

                                      Im over weight because I sit in front of a computer all day and eat Burger King. The only way I get laid is by going to the strip clubs and paying $350 for 15 minutes of sex. No i'm not proud of it, but if it wasn't for money I wouldnt be getting laid. So yes, money is very important to me

                                          money isn't very important when you have it. when you don't its another story. when i was making really good money i'd go weeks without working. esentially we are working for freedom. working 8-12 hours a day just doesn't make sense. why do all that work if you can't enjoy the fruits of your labor?

                                                          Well, it's funny, but it's not. I'm pretty sure you are describing someone's life right now.

                                                          I didn't start this job to spend it in front of a computer. I am skiing monday to friday, learning new stuff everyday.. This is what life should be.. Not gaining more money to spend it on useless stuff..

                                                          When you die, your 10000 sport cars and big house do not follow you.. I'm spending time with the ones I love and am taking care of myself.

                                                          The "consume until you die" train was going too fast for me.

                                                                      House, half decent car, nice sailboat, be able to travel and provide for my family! As well as give a little to family, friends and some charities. I don't think that's asking for much!

                                                                              you can buy the things that ya want, like all the toys and have a great lifestyle, so for me it's being very comfortable and not having to worry about bills or if i want to buy something can i afford it, no need to worry where the next dollar is coming from.

Your happiness is directly related to how much you have and how well you manage it in your life. The second part of that is why some rich people are so miserable. The money controls them, instead of the other way around.

                                                                                      Mom always said that the people that say money doesn't matter are usually the first ones to jump from buildings when the stock market crashes. She was probably right.

                                                                                      Anybody who says it isn't important should spend 6 months living "the life". Talk to bill collectors, figure out what to feed the kids when the cupboards and your pocketbook are empty, fret when an emergency pops up like a problem with the car or a leak in the roof.....and watching your marriage go down the drain because you are both so stressed out that you snapped at each other constantly. After living "the life" we can bring up the subject of the importance of money again and see if views have changed.

                                                                                          I had an offer this month from someone to pay anything to have their project put ahead of the projects I'm working on now.. and I turned him down.

                                                                                          I won't break a promise to get a job done just because someone throws money at me. I know they wouldn't want me to put off their project if someone else comes along with a better offer... so if they don't want to be treated like that, then I won't treat any of my other clients like that either.

                                                                                                  When I read your post it reminded me of my mom when she was alive. A lot of times she used to tell me how hard things are when you have a lot of money. I would sit and listen while looking at her finely manicured nails tapping on the counter making her 7 carot diamond ring glitter. Oh, the hardship of it all, worrying if the maid was working hard enough for what she was being paid...how much income tax she would have to pay unless she came up with some good deductions...the stress of deciding which fur coat she would get the most wear out of ....wait...buy both and it won't matter, she had 7 already......and i would think to myself...damn...her life is rough...all I'm doing is sitting here trying to pretend I'm paying attention while I'm really trying to figure out if there are any coats I might have left change in at home so I could get together enough money for my daughters "Hot Dog Day" at school.

                                                                                                  She has passed on now, and things are better for us but the one thing she taught me was not that money wasn't important, she taught me that it was...the difference is...I appreciate it...she never did.
