Equal Opportunity Does Not Mix With Cheerleading!!!

I think there are less girls going out for the cheerleading squad these days...especially at small schools. At my school, everyone who went out for football made them team and then they had to beg a couple other guys to join up to so they could actually have a team. Same with most of the other sports and cheerleading. We had some pretty chunky cheerleaders but a couple decent looking ones.

It's just not cool to be a joiner and be in sports anymore (although if you are college bound, activities can be important for getting scholarships). Personally, I think all high school sports programs should be eliminated. How do they contribute to the academic future of these kids? We need Americans that are good at math and science...we already have an abundant supply of musclebound idiots who can do manual labor.

although, the argument could be made that school sports programs encourage an active lifestyle and get kids into the habbit of exercising and not being sedentary

You are right Rictor. High school sports takes away from the acedemic purpose of school. They should still be played but in more of a Pop warner type of arena separated from school.

the girls at my old high school have some of the best bodies I've ever seen. And the cheerleaders were fine back when I was a little kid, they were fine when I went to that high school, and they are still fine 14 years after I graduated.

Only losers who never got laid and got beat up a lot in high school think this way. You don't understand how important sports can be in the development of a child at all? I'm no jock and I'm not a guy who takes sports very seriously (besides the NFL), or considers it more important than school in any way, but I do realize how it really helps kids develop teamwork skills, leadership, teaches them to win and loose gracefully, etc. Not to mention the fact that like 90% of kids are dangerously overweight these days because they sit around eating all day playing xbox. I don't see how how you could wish less exercise on a generation of fat kids. I'd say the problem is parents who take it too seriously and push their kids to win at all costs, now that's fucked up.

Same here, nailing any of the cheerleaders was a great thing back in my day, they were all smokin hot.

Sounds like somebody can't make the team and resents the attention given to those who can.

Athletics teaches several things:

1. Team work; which is severly lacking in the corporate environment where nerds claw at each other until the company falls apart.

2. Fortitude; Learning how to live with defeat; ex athletes don't commit suicide after getting fired for the first time from a job.

3. Physical preparedness; Which gives a good pool for military recruits that are capable of kicking some ass on the battlefield.
We won't win the war in Iraq by going to the battlefield and adding up some fucking numbers.

4. Commitment; the dropout rate among athletes is about 0% while the dropout rate for other students in public schools in big cities like NY and LA is 40%!!!!!!!!!!!!

5. Direction; Put a violent bully on the footbal team and he learns that there is a positive direction for his aggression.
"Save it for the field" is probably the most used quote leveled at an athlete that gets out of line and it works.

6. Humility; the violent bully will get his ass kicked for the first time by someone that is smaller and not afraid.

7. Self esteem; somewhat lacking among the "trench coat mafia" types.

Just to name a few in addition to organiztion, personal hygene and physical therapy.

Also is does other things:
Like provide excuses to kids who realy fucking need them such as:

* I can't go out and do underaged drinkng with you guys tonight; got a big game tomorrow.

* Can't go bugularize someone's house with you today; I got practice.

* Can't smoke them drugs and cigs; slow me down too much on the field.

*I can't engage in this street fight; I'll get kicked off the team even though I would never be suspened since it's not on school property!

* I gotta quit the gang guys; I keep missing the gang meetings anyway because of practice.

On and on and on.....


Besides all that; the games aint free and big high schools and colleges that invest in good stadiums and equipment rake in fat assed cash that they spend on books, teachers salaries, womens
athletics(which doesn't make shit for money).
Provides free advertisements to recruit the brightest student to the university...ever see those half-time exposes of the colleges during half time?????

The sale of sports jerseys, hats, programs, hot dogs, sodas and the pride the makes rich people donate huge checks to the school is an economic bonanza!!

Only a fucking fool would get rid of that.
