Absolutely. The same word could be used on two separate occasions have completely different meanings.
But my whole point was that people shouldn't take these things too seriously. If someone is going to use a racial term ignorantly, than fuck them. They are no better than those they are trying to offend. (And I'm sure that was their entire goal - to get a kick out of angering someone else how lame)
