but this all goes a little deeper than "porn" being the root of all things bad.

There has always been a certain age where kids (yes KiDS!) start expeirmenting, and nothing short of locking them in a cage is going to stop them from doing that.

Of course there are other contributing factors that lead to children having sex earlier and earlier with each generation.... poverty and bad parenting (most often due to poverty, or fear of it) is probably a big one.

If you don't mind me asking (and I wouldn't outside of this subject) When did you first have sex pink?

I guess I did probably about 14... I know many girls from my generation were starting to have sex at about 12-14... and most, if not damn near all, by 16 or 17.

So how have things really changed?

Sure... now more people probably know what terms like fish-hooking, double penetration, anal creampie, snowballing, dirty sanchez etc etc are... and maybe more young girls these days are more likely to engage is sex acts with more than one partner... and that is probably linked to the increased availability of porn to people...

but does it "destroy women" any more or faster than, say, the kind folks who make Prozac or Paxil? Or the wonderful people who make tobacco products? Or the great bunch of guys that lobbied the cancerous effects of cellphones right out of our minds & put a cellphone (complete with slim shady ringtones!) into the hands of most teenagers ("I call this the brain cancer really isn't that bad plan!")... I don't think so.

I think porn is probably a little behind par when it comes to the demoralization and destruction of our youth when compared to some of the other industries out there.

      But hey, thats just my
I agree with you goBig! Porn is on the lower end of destroying women & teenagers!

          Do you think...

*Regular users of pornography are more likely to think of women in stereotype, (1) as "socially non-discriminating, as hysterically euphoric in response to just about any sexual or pseudosexual stimulation, and as eager to accommodate seemingly any and every sexual request." (2)

*Regular users of pornography are more likely to have sexually callous attitudes and accept the rape myth (that when a woman says "no," she means "yes.") (3)

*Regular users of pornography have increasingly hostile and aggressive sexual fantasies. (4)

*Regular users of pornography are less likely to convict for a rape, and less likely to give a harsh sentence to a rapist if in fact convicted. (5) Conversely, individuals who do not use pornography are more likely to convict an accused rapist. (6)

*Areas with pornography outlets and sexually oriented businesses experience significantly higher sexual offenses and property crimes than areas without such businesses. (7)

Some "adult" bookstores derive significant income from peep show booths, some with "glory holes" to provide anonymous sexual encounters. According to Dr. Stephen Joseph, former Health Commissioner of New York City, "The proprietors are essentially operating an AIDS breeding ground, with profit being the driving force." (8)

Clinical research shows that pornographic images create chemically encoded messages on the brain that can remain through adulthood. Human memory is formed in part by the release of the chemical epinephrine which, upon emotional arousal, leaves behind an imprint on the brain.

              I was 16 when I 1st had sex...1st for everything actually.
When I was 16 things were WAY different! Girls nowadays are total sluts. We have a quickie down the street and I go sometimes at one in the morning, and I see about 14 DRUNK girls between the ages of 9-16. Dressing like a stripper would if not worse. Drinking, getting high making out with anything that passes them by etc... When I was that young and if I acted that way my father would have found me and gave me a beating!
When I grew up girls didn't act like they do now. Maybe they did and I just didn't see it due to where I was brought up but shits changing and its scary

I can only imagine how society is going to evolve sexually.

I have three kids, 2 boys and a girl. The way the media portrays females is sickening. Girls with low self esteem, eating disorders etc... Most young girls want to look like Britney or Christina or whoever. And they try and act just like them. If girls didn't go around acting or wanting to be just eyecandy maybe we'd be taken seriously

The media portrays alot of women as objects, nothing more.
Girls want attention from the boys so they act like what they see.
I'm not saying porn is the problem here, alot more the media.

Edit: Of course I'm not talking about daterape which is a different phenomena but the typical violent rape.
You're talking about rape by strangers, the typical bad guy hiding in the bushes waiting for a "prey" to pass by. Stranger rape is indeed not about sex but about power... however, it's also very uncommon, and by no means the "typical" kind of rape.
Almost always, rapists are people who actually know the victim. In cases of date rape - something that happens far more often than stranger rape - the rapist most often believes the woman actually "wants it".
The idea that rape and sex have nothing to do with eachother is simply not true. In most cases, the definition of rape quite aptly describes what it is; forced sex.

The idea that rape has nothing to do with sex comes largely from feminist psychology. If rape has nothing to do with power, the victim doesn't have to feel any responsibility for what happened. If it's about sex, however, wearing skimpy clothes, flirting, kissing and touching may well have played a role in what happened.

One of the reasons rape often goes unreported - apart from other obvious reasons like fear of the rapist and such - is the victim feeling partly responsible for what happened, and fear of being called a slut because she "teased" the guy.

The typical rapist is not some creepy guy planning to victimize the first woman that passes by the bushes in the park he's hiding in... it's a normal (often) young guy who drank a bit too much, has been flirting or fooling around a bit with a girl, and doesn't accept "no" when she doesn't want to take it any further.

That leads me to my next point: porn can and does cause rape. It may be an unpopular view, especially here, but there is simply no avoiding it.

Sure, an adult guy who watches porn every once in a while will be able to handle it just fine. He'll see the line between fantasy and reality and realize that porn is a fantasy.
Young teens, on the other hand, are often not just looking for a quick way to get off but also for knowledge and guidance. They're not sure how to handle situations with girls, and their views will be heavily influenced by role models. If those role models include Max Hardcore and Meatholes, their views will reflect that.

Comparing this to violence in computer games and on tv is impossible. Society is quite open about violence: it's generally bad. Kids will hear that from their parents, tv, books, teachers, etc. They get a solid upbringing when it comes to violence, because violence is not a taboo subject.
Sex on the other hand remains mysterious to many. There are quite a few parents who do not give their children a good education about sex, it's only hinted at on tv, teachers either give no information or only very technical information, so there are only a few sources kids can learn from.
If kids have access to porn, that will be one of those sources.

So porn isn't the only thing to blame here. It's porn in combination with a lack of sexual education. The blame for that lack of sexual education falls mainly on the parents and society in general. By keeping something as taboo as sex, it becomes almost impossible to give young teens a realistic view of it.

Where the online porn industry fucks up is age verification. Children and young teens should not be watching porn, and we all know it. Many people will exclaim "But it's the parents' responsibility to keep their children from being online without proper supervision!", and think that excuses them.
It doesn't. We all know that there are children out there with bad or ignorant parents. Saying it's the parents' responsibility is like letting children get stuff from a real porn shop and saying "Their parents should be here to keep them from doing that". While that may be true, a society also has the responsibility to protect it's children.

Ofcourse, porn isn't the worst thing out there by a long shot. Things like MTV are even stronger rolemodels for most children, and what they teach those children is that girls are supposed to be slutty little fucktoys and boys are supposed to be pimping gangsters with lots of bling. These kinds of stereotypes are hahahahahaded even deeper within our culture than the ones displayed in porn, and they are presented continuously throughout society. The worst thing, however, is that they are presented as serious and viable lifestyles.
The idea that children aren't affected by such rolemodels is laughable at best, a weak excuse to keep on squeezing money out of our children.

RE. rape - of course you could argue that if someone is interested in watching rape scenes and does so repeatedly, they are already on the path and if anything the rape porn actually delays the act itself.

I still believe that even date rape is motivated by power, control and domination more than the sex itself. My sister was raped by 3 guys when she was 15, she was on a date with one of the guys, now in hindsight we both agree that they had set her up as some kind of 'brotherhood' type thing and considering she was bleeding and not very cooperative, I just don't see how they can see this as 'attractive' in a sexual way - add to this the guys attempted to control her even beyond this event, unsuccessfully thankfully.

Yes Pink_In_The_Middle, pornography destroys women. I remember reading in the Bible about how Eve destined all of mankind to drudgery because she got a password to 'Bang Bus'.

Yes and nothing you can do can change that. Look at Saudi Arabia, women are supposed to cover themselves for head to toe in order to protect themselves from perverted men. Yet it'd be hard for any women to walk out there alone at night without getting raped even though she's covered from head to toe.

I still believe that even date rape is motivated by power, control and domination more than the sex itself. My sister was raped by 3 guys when she was 15, she was on a date with one of the guys, now in hindsight we both agree that they had set her up as some kind of 'brotherhood' type thing and considering she was bleeding and not very cooperative, I just don't see how they can see this as 'attractive' in a sexual way - add to this the guys attempted to control her even beyond this event, unsuccessfully thankfully.
ugh - I'm so sorry to hear that. I hope all 3 of those guys are either in jail or dead!

Knowing how easy it is to influence people, if a guy is surfing adults sites, anything from the 'trick/take advantage of' girls reality sites to rape sites, then obviously that's what he's into. And I think taking the step from just fantasizes about it to actually doing it is easier then...
Just like those 3 guys that raped your sister - I don't think either one of those guys would have done it by himself - but all 3 togeather pump each other up and before you know it, the testastorone takes over common sense...

To say that all these reality sites that shows drunk females and how they are being taken advantage of isn't dangerous don't know what they're talking about... IMHO...

Pornography does desensitize you. The more you view it the more elaborate your sexual fantazies have to become to achieve the same effect. Its a lot like drugs.

So in that sense, I think it doesn't destroy women, but it does make them a gratification object for many men. When they look at a girl the first thing they think involves sexual imagery.

Whatever the reason, they still get raped even though women aren't half-naked and porn isn't abundant.

I think it's unfair to always blame the guys for intense female sexuality.
i dont think this is the fault of porn, there are heaps of girls now days that are like 12 year olds that dress like 18 year olds should, and i think that is from people like britney spears and those other "role models" that the young girls follow.

To me there is more harn being done by people who are sexually repressed than people in touch with their sexuality. Appreciating erotica is as normal as enjoying nice tasty food. Its one of our pleasure senses that need stimulation and we need to stimulate all our senses to have a well balanced life.IMO.

Personally I think it's to reduce temptation

Edit: I should mention that prior to Mohammed, it was common to have massive orgies around the Haj, the yearly Mecca pilgrimage, think Egyptian seductresses..

The quality of input in this thread is just fantastic and belies the consensus that people engaged in the adult industry are mindless morons.
I am sure it would be a less fucked up world if we had some Porn Industry people in places of power rather than people from the oil industry.

Take for example men who like to watch max hardcore films. Men who are into child porn and the list goes on and on...

I think the people that get unbalanced or fucked up are themselves probably brought up to think sex is bad and evil.If we could only cultivate a healthy attitude towards sex in the society the there may be less extreme deviants.
As toddler says just look at the Catholic Church for the results of sexual suppression. The Church reckons sex outside of procreating is a sin.
If we all weren't so fucked up sexually we'd realise how beautiful and pleasurable the sexual experience is and erotica is the celebration of that.

I absolutely believe that 'abnormal' porn "can" contribute to inappropriate or even criminal behavior.

Take the rape-curious guy... At first it may be just something he fantasizes about. But to see an actual hardcore rape scenario, takes it out of his mind, and puts it in front of his eyes. If he thinks it's a real scene, it may even give him a sense of "hey, if this guy can do it, maybe it's not as abnormal or bad as I thought." It's the logical extension of the sheep mentality... If someone else does it, it must be ok. Even if he doesn't consciously think it, his unconscious mind has stored this info away and may effect decisions he makes in the future.

The porn/rape connection is ridiculous. Anyone who has taken the most basic Psych or Sociology 101 knows that rape is about power, not about sex. If a guy is at home jerking off to a simulated rape, he's getting a sexual release. Not at all the same motivator as a real life rapist.

There have been multiple studies showing that many women have rape fantasies. Of course they don't *really* want to be raped because they fantasize about it.

The fantasy is being powerless, having the man take charge, being able to enjoy sex because you were forced which means you couldn't possibly be a "slut".

Personally, I'd like to see more amateur & couple driven porn showing women having orgasms. If people realized that sex was a healthy & natural thing to do, they wouldn't be so caught up in bullshit like how many partners is too many.

I have that fantasy and I've always loved the thought of the man being in charge. Him having all the power.
The thought of "playful" rape if you will turns me on, as I'm sure many women here would say the same.

Like I already said, the idea that sex is about power and not about sex mainly comes from feminist psychology and is quite rapidly losing ground.
Much of the theory wasn't based on interviews with actual rapists, but rather on abstract theories. However, recent studies (such as the one by Dr Meryl McKay) find that the most important cause of rape of adult women is actually an urge for sex in combination with distorted views on the victims' attitudes towards force and sex.

Rape fantasies have very little to do with that type of sex though. Many women have them, and many men do too. However, consentual play rape is something quite different from real rape. It's more a fantasy about certain aspects also found in rape than it is a fantasy about something much like rape.

I don't think porn destroys women - or men. I think what destroys, in that regard, is the internal struggle between what is right or wrong, eg - guilt.

A woman who has multiple partners, and enjoys this, is percieved, not just by other men - but especially by women - as something 'unclean.' It is prevalent everywhere. It is very prevalent on this board, in fact. You'll even see it from some female amateurs/webcam operators on GFY at times 'I only do hardcore with my significant other', etc, as a disclaimer. It's almost a given on GFY (using it as an example, because we DEAL in porn - so imagine in contrast what society's views are) that the younger guys REVILE women in porn, making it clear they'd NEVER have a 'slut that takes cum on the face' as a signficant other.

I remember posting re: my wife and I - we are swingers, have been for over 6 years, and have been running her website together for almost as long. She enjoys multiple partners, and all forms of sex. That thread was filled with comments about what a whore she was, and how disgusting our lifestyle is. And this level of repression is present on a board that deals in porn.

My point being, re: the topic, if something you enjoy doing is considered bad by so many levels of society, unless you are an extremely secure individual, you are going to get ripped apart inside. There was a study on the Mormon Church once on this subject. They have a saying that goes something like (not exact) "It's better to spill your seed in the belly of a whore than on the ground." The study found that a high percentage of Mormon men decided by the time they were 18 and had been sinning by jacking off for 6 years, that they were 'bad' and 'irredeemable' - at which point they REALLY started sinning.
