Hey KRL if you are really serious about jumping more deeply into this you need to make the same request on a board like www.velvetrope.com
It's a music industry board with tons of label staffers and a lot of unsigned band members trying to get signed. Most of the people I work with in the business and other associates check it every so often for gossip. You will get bombarded with pro demos if you make the same request. Just be really clear about what you are looking for.
That will be your best bet because the rest of the sites that host demos like mp3.com are terrible for finding talent. You will never find anything worthwhile on them. You are better off killing your time here trying to increase your post count.
I've trusted my sites to them for over a decade...
It's not that it's funny, its just one must look at things how the industry really works.
First off, 11 years olds cant even get into bars or clubs, so theres no way they can play to an audience that has money. Kids make music for other kids, and kids have to get mom and dad to buy their music.
While kids bands are fun and we know all musicians start out young, the reality behind it is: It takes years of playing shows, and developing a fan base, and children cant do this.
If youre talking about having a kid grow up to be a huge pop star, well maybe, but the reality is it will never happen.
I have been around musicians and bands since I was younger than your boys bands drummer, and it takes a lot more than just "talent" to make it in the music industry. I sit in on recording studio sessions and go to live shows every week, there really isnt a real market for kids in the music industry unless its the Britney pop star thing, and hey kids can dream, but there is a reality behind the music industry that talent, style, looks, dont even really matter.
Ive listened to and known too many good bands that go nowhere, to think 11 year opld kids have a chance more than people I see every night LIVING the ROCK BAND life, there is huge difference between the reality of the music scene here in Hollywood vs kids playing in their garage.
There is way too much that goes into making a band successful to even begin to discuss here, Ive seen soooo many bands come and go its pathetic. I know guys that have been touring the US for 10+ years, and bands I knew in highschool have 10 records under their belt and these guys are still broke, they may have the best tattoos and kick ass music gear, but the reality of the music industry is much too harsh for most to deal with.
from sleeping in cars to AA, Its a long road tyo the top, if you want to rock and roll.
Thank you for your explanation. It is duly noted. I appreciate what you are saying but, stranger things have happend. Never give up is my motto
