    Hypothetically speaking, if...

    ...someone offered you a "lifetime" hosting account on an unmetered server, on a 100mpbs pipe, to your full control, how much would you pay for it, here and now.

    lifetime meaning for an undisclosed period of time. Not including server updates. Obviously not 100+ years, but perhaps the lifetime of the hardware, say.... 5 years.

    Hit me with numbers.

        I wouldn't be interested. who wants to pay upfront for 5 years of hosting? Even if it was the best deal ever, there would be no guarantees the company would still be up in 5 years, let alone next month.

          Hosting prices are constantly going down, and hosts go out of business with some regularity. I never pay more then 3 months in advance for hosting, and prefer to be monthly.

          Basically it's a bad idea.
