Do you stop for funeral processions?

I met two in the road on the way home a little while ago and was just wondering how many of you acutally stop and wait on them to go by.

I don't know if there is a law here about it, however I do & while am waiting say a little prayer for the one who has passed away.

if I have somewhere to be I wont stop but if I have nothing to do, I will pull over and wait.

I could really careless about 'showing respect' about some guy/girl I never knew that might have been in and out of prision 3 times and was addicted to crack. how can you show respect for someone you dont know?

                  Often times I wonder why

You know where I live - if you don't pull over, you'll get shot for being disrespectful!

But of course in Atlanta, you usually CAN'T pull over

I was just in a funeral procession with the passing of my great-grandfather. Some dumb bitch decided to cut in between us right before a red light and cut off half the people..We had about 60 cars. So half the people were stuck at the redlight...Ignorant ass mother fuckers.

I'm originally from NJ, yes, right where they film that stupid show Sapranos... anyway, REAL mobsters live in NJ, and alot of them retire in FL... So when in NJ and FL, be very careful about what you do in traffic !

                        hahah, seriously

Sig was too big, so I got a better one.

Yes..........in most states there is a law on the books against interfering with funeral processions. As a matter of fact, you could receive a citation for two violations: Interfering with funeral processions, and impeding the flow of traffic. Expensive tickets in Calif.

My sisters funeral was held a couple of days ago on Friday (the 13th) However the cemetery was in the middle of nowhere so no worries about being held up...

Of course I stop, but along the lines of what FireHorse said, it's more about respect for the grieving than respect for the dead. No matter what you're doing, come on - those people in the procession are on their way to bury a loved one - what on earth could be more important? Slow down and get out of the way.

When I die, I don't want anything more than to be thrown in the nearest hole. I don't need a parade, and I don't think there's anything respectful about my corpse causing a traffic jam.

And you certainly have the right to make that choice, and I respect it completely. What YOU choose for your final moment is not the issue here. If I'm on my way to the office (not that it's an issue these days) and I come across a procession, I'm pulling over. Unless there's a jester with a foghorn informing me to do otherwise. (And...now I have new ideas for my own procession....)
