People will do what they want to do. If they want to promote a sponsor they will, if not they won't.
Remember the whole Matrix situation, they signed with Acacia and next thing you know their whole database was used by Acacia. What is to say that the sponsor I am pushing that signed with Acacia doesn't do a Matrix and turn over my details to Acacia? Of course, they won't admit it, but there is no way of knowing one way or the other.
The problem I see is this: Most webmasters have multiple sponsors. Especially if you run a tgp or something like that using free hosted galleries, you can have 30-50 different sponsors. You push a sponsor that signed with Acacia and now they have your name, address, sites you run, etc. So they send you a letter saying you are pushing sponsors that are infringing on their patent, of course, they don't mention any details or what sponsors they are using, they are banking on the odds that you use more than one sponsor which there is probably one that hasn't signed up with them.
All this because I used a sponsor that signed with Acacia and now Acacia knows what sites I run, my address, etc.Comment
