Oh man, the first step you have to take is to get rid of that "It can't be done" attitude. The zeal you approach your work with is half the battle, and if you defeat yourself by saying it's impossible then you're just spinning your wheels and wasting a lot of energy.
I guarantee you that there's people who're new to the biz making big big dollars, probably far more than I am. Sure, they may have gotten lucky, but I'm willing to bet that a positive attitude and an insane work ethic could substitute for luck any day, and *seriously* augment it when you get your own breaks falling your way.
Virtu Vince Fortuna, guy... Ability over fortune. Make your own luck and you'll make the big bucks. Having big goals is part of that approach. Shoot for $1k/day and convince yourself it's possible (it is, people ARE doing it!) and you can get some serious shit accomplished.
And ignore any of the haters who tell you it can't be done... those are just the losers trying to drag you down into their lamer hell to feel better about their own failures.
