    Why most online businesses fail

A while ago, I ordered some cologne and a pack of condoms at an online drugstore, thinking it would arrive 2 or 3 days later. I normally avoid online shops like the plague, but this one had a cologne I wanted so I had no choice.

Now, 6 weeks later, I have a $70 credit at the online drugstore, a pack of condoms and 10 lbs of sugarfree liquorice.

    Sugarfree liquorice? That sucks..

I agree though.. its a pain to get your stuff generally when you order on line, moreso if the place is out of the country.

I have friends who run online stores of such nature. They have to switch merchant accounts every now and then due to bad feedback ratings from poor administration. You have to find quality merchants with years of experience that you can trust.

Buy stuff on e-bay from people with really good feedback, or amazon stores with really good feedback. Its worked for me, so far.

its all about whos behind that business and the lengths they will go to to make the customer happy. A happy customer is a return customer.

As if there are never problems buying from bricks-and-mortar businesses...

I have been buying online for several years, everything from coffee to carpets. It's a terrific way to save money and - if you live in a rural area like I do - often the only way to buy some things at all.

I have received a couple of cigarette deliveries in which one or two packs were slightly damaged: the company replaced the full order free of charge each time. There was a delay once with some VHS tapes that had to be converted from PAL to NTSC: they let me know and because I chose not to cancel the order, they sent me a free tape.

The only time I (almost) had a bad experience was with furniture.com, but I got that resolved courtesy of the FBI complaints website (and shortly after I got my money back, the company went bust).
