The FART Banner - Good or bad marketing?

Personally, its very distasteful and annoying as hell. I wouldn't be motivated to do biz with someone that uses farts to market their program.

I was on the phone today and surfing GFY and had been listening to music with the volume up right before that. I hit a thread with the fart banner and it went off loud as fuck as I was talking and I know the CEO on the other end of the conversation heard it loud and clear because he paused in the middle of his sentence.

I was going to say that wasn't me, but then realized what am I going to say it was, on a site called GoFuckYourself.com where advertisers use farts to sell things.

Fucking embarrasing as hell and pissed me totally off.

So is it good or bad marketing?

I think it is both good and bad.Yes people will know it is your company but they will also reload so fast they wont bother to click it. But many people have complained about it and thats what gets in your head .

Personally, I surf with my speaker volume off so I never heard the fart. Yesterday someone else was using my computer and today, a telemarketer and me and probably the neighborhood heard it. It does get your attention, the telemarketer hung up so I like it.

I normally remember to turn the volume down since banners here have audio, but forgot to do it today when I hit GFY.

I remember talking about this quite a while back wondering just how invasive banners would get and when they would just start playing sounds on their own without you having to mouse over and when people would get tired of it.

I had the same thing happen to me while I was on the phone and that fucking thing went off, I didn't know what to say either and I know they heard it without a doubt. I wouldn't click it, it's bad biz and it seems to me that it's all the 19 year old college kids that are here for the free porn and usually drunk or high that like it.
