(CNN) -- Florida's Panhandle and southern Keys could get a double whammy from two tropical storms developing in the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea.
Tropical Storm Charley is approaching Jamaica early Wednesday as it continues to gather strength in the Caribbean. The storm could hit the Florida Keys as a hurricane early Friday, according to the National Hurricane Center in Miami.
A hurricane watch has been issued in Jamaica and from the middle Florida Keys westward to the Dry Tortugas, off the coast of Key West. A hurricane watch means hurricane conditions are possible within the next 36 hours or so.
