This is enough of a problem for us that we have a fair amount of code devoted to finding and altering these ads to alert our users that it's a scammer. I'd say that out of 400 or so new ads created a day on Bondage.com, maybe 5-10 are attempts to advertise a website.

there are a lot of the dating sites that create the fake profiles themselves to interest members and when that member joins guess what..
I see that what KRL is talking about is definitely not a good situation and is fraud but what about the programs that create fake profiles to make it seem as if they have more members? wouldn't that be fraud as well?Comment

I refer today a guy who choses the nickname chris_288 and then i i contact that guy from a fake profile from a girl becasue i want that he upgrades his membership and then i get a bigger commision ?
But how do i know what's his nickname?

This has been going on forever. In the audiotext biz we used to pay girls $10 an hour or so to get onto the AOL/Prodigy/Compuserve chatrooms, get the guys hot, then give them a PPC number that looked like a normal number.

I echo the sentiments of my colleagues in the dating field, who've posted here. Clearing out fake and/or commercially motivated profiles is a constant, 24/7 undertaking. Given the kind of traffic that comes through the AFF members' area, you can imagine how attractive it is for scammers to try to get in and sell something. We did the math a few weeks back: from a traffic exposure standpoint, a female profile on AFF is about the same as having a fixed banner ad on a site with an Alexa of 30,000. Crazy, huh!
